Soon there will be a thread of the better players who went after him we could have had instead. We could have had Mcmicheals or Pinto and been set with our Pld replacement.I'm not feeling it either.
Outside a couple flashes, Ville looks overwhelmed in the NHL. I hope he shows me I'm wrong.
Everyone is rooting for his success. Why wouldn’t people be, after all he is a Jet. Being cynical or optimistic doesn’t change his success or failure or how badly people want him to.Yeah I think I'll be rooting for his success.

I'll admit that I have not watched him play for the Moose. When I have watched him play for the Jets and especially when I have been at the game he seems to find himself on the wrong side of the puck in his own end. He simply loses body position in puck battles.I'm not feeling it either.

He looks bad everywhere he plays until he settles in. Not ideal but I think if he gets a stretch of games where he can make mistakes and figure out what he can and can't do at NHL speed he'll be just fine.I'm not feeling it either.

My issue with this is when he's playing well, he doesn't really use physicality or battles to defend. He anticipates and cuts off lanes and herds the opposition to where he wants them to go. I feel like he was told that he needs to be more physical to play in the NHL so he's tried to show that when he gets a shot but in reality it's just not his game and he's not good at it and it's likely never going to be a game that he's good at.I'll admit that I have not watched him play for the Moose. I am hoping for the best for Ville and the Jets but he has shown me very little. I really hope that I am proven wrong this time around.
Dead on dude.......he's the kind of player that needs a longer adjustment period because of his size and weight. He is developing skills in that area, but needs the experience and some patience. "Experience is a good teacher" and he will pay with injuries along the way but it will be worth it.He looks bad everywhere he plays until he settles in. And his skating. He isn’t the fastest guy for a smaller player. Anyway I am hoping the best from the player but haven’t seen it yet.Dead on dude.......he's the kind of player that needs a longer adjustment period because of his size and weight. Totally agree, and I don't think Tiny Heiny is anywhere near physical or tough enough, to be an NHL defenseman. He should be spending his time in the weight room, and building his physical strength -- something like Morrissey has done. He doesn't have that super offensive talent, to allow you to overlook his defensive liabilities, and that's why he's never been in the lineup that much. Generally it's a mistake to draft non physical type defenseman, unless their super talented. He'll go the same way Niku did -- to another club.I dont have much faith. Going to get bullied and pushed around.

I am 100% behind the kid. Having said that he has to stop playing like he has eggs in his pockets. If he can’t do that he shouldn’t be asking for NHL playing time. He isn’t too small for the league, he just plays too timidly. A bit of cockiness will do him a world of good imo. Let’s hope that he has it in him.Totally agree, and I don't think Tiny Heiny is anywhere near physical or tough enough, to be an NHL defenseman. I'd like to see the Jets call up Declan Chisholm instead, as I think he's very good, but I've not seen enough of him yet. I like what I see in him tho -- so far.

I'm just thinking ot that PP goal he scored in preseason, I can't even remember against who now, but where he flew up the ice to take a pass from Lowry, and scored on essentially a breakaway. I'm also anxious to see how he and Perfetti, who were doing some NHL level things at the AHL level, mesh on the 2nd PP, which hasn't been all that productive this year.Totally agree, and I don't think Tiny Heiny is anywhere near physical or tough enough, to be an NHL defenseman. Here's why. People (in general, not just here) tend to make overly quick, overly harsh judgements and then look for confirmation. It's one of the most basic and powerful human biases.Everyone is rooting for his success. Why wouldn’t people be, after all he is a Jet. To be fair someone is hard on all the players. I don’t want Gagner in Jets line up but when he scored the other day I was as excited as anyone. Here's why. Ville is a young, extremely talented player who has not been given a sufficient string of games to prove anything. He is small, but playing in an era where small size is less important than ever before in the NHL. He is not exceptionally fast, which has been my biggest concern since the moment I saw him in his first pre-season game. I think he has the skill and smarts to overcome that and be a top-4 D, but we shall see.
If the "cynical" types jump down his throat after a mistake or two, or a bad game, it will not prove anything about Ville. It'll just show that confirmation bias usually wins out.
Remember the days you went to a game watched several fights and ocassionally a hockey game would break out........The game has evolved since then putting more emphasis on skill and talent thanks to the Russians. This is the scenario today with a further significant movement lately toward skill and speed. When i look at Stanley and Heinola, there's no question who i want playing on the Jets. I believe even hits are down now in the new NHL, and you will see more smaller players in the future........We have a few in the works right now. Here's why. Yup - that's pretty much how it works - especially in the world of sports, fans, and the popularity of players. Here's why. People (in general, not just here) tend to make overly quick, overly harsh judgements and then look for confirmation. It's one of the most basic and powerful human biases.
That’s what I’m a little worried about. All young defenceman make mistakes this is especially true on a team where the coach activates the defense. I’ll agree with those that what to see him with Dillon. That should give him a little more opportunity to move the puck. Here's why. But it also won’t prove anything if he makes a few nice plays and the optimists claim we have found Pionk or Schmidt’s replacement. Slow and small are a dangerous combination. Here's why.
