Loved both episodes so far. I agree with a couple posters earlier on that I wish the Leafs had a show like Edmonton does with their "Oil Change" thing.

As well, that short little focus on Reimer in net when he was saying to himself "Be good, Reims. Be Good. Be Good." really tugged at my heartstrings as well. The guy just give his all every time and unfortunately it just seems like Bernier is a little better in every aspect of the position. I really feel for Reimer though. I think things affect him a little deeper than they do everyone else.

Carlyle is coming off as a cantankerous doddering old fool. His management style is painting himself into a corner with this young team. Screaming at them doesn't work and he doesn't have a Plan B.

He screamed at them once after they were losing to Florida 3-0... What are you going on about?

He's been too easy on them considering their collective effort level most nights.

From every single report this season, he hasnt been screaming at them. The beatt writers are quire frankly shocked how hes kept his cool.

And he was absolutely right in ripping them during that game. It was an embarrassment.

That moment where Babcock told Jurco to not focus on whether he's playing on the 1st or 3rd line, but to have fun and tapped him on the shoulder, that was great. What a great coach, really knows how to calm down these young players. I wish we had someone like that.

Peter Holland is such an idiot, you just don't say that. Me thinks Reims is a loner but whn you have a hit GF at home, it ain't all bad.

Overall, Much better episode... Leafs get the classic TV treatment and Miley Cyrus gets extra plug for her new trashy music.

lol really? he asked reims who was starting and didnt want to make it too awkward after he said it was bernier.

Reimer's a bit of a *****

yeah he seems quite bitter. i can understand it but i thought he was always chipper

-----

on another note, they are showing way too much of babcock. id rather see the wings players or more leafs stuff than him all the time. we basically never get to see the wings.

While I appreciated the fact that Carlyle took Ranger and Fraser aside and told them off it becomes quite clear that the HBO cameras are really hard for Carlyle to deal with. I really like him as a coach (unlike many here it appears) but I think that the cameras are effecting (partially) his ability to coach as he is noticeably more uncomfortable than Babcock. I've got a very good feeling that once the Winter Classic is over that Carlyle will have an easier job with his coaching duties and getting through to the guys in his own way, not feeling uncomfortable always being mic'd up, knowing the media will rip and examine every word to it's very death.

Reimer's a bit of a *****

Why?

Because the guy is a classy professional, who loves what he does, and shows a tiny bit of emotion when he doesn't get to play?

I'm sorry, but please remove your head from your ***. It's not easy, going from THE guy, to sitting and watching most nights. He supports Johnny B. Good, and shows complete class and professionalism in doing so.

Sue the guy for being a little off-put not getting a start.... Clearly, your understanding of player's, and more specifically, a goalie's mentality, is non-existent.

I would be concerned if James acted like he didn't care whether or not he started

It's painfully obvious who the better coach is from watching these first two episodes.

Sure, Babcock might come across as more of a player's coach behind the camera, but the results for his club throughout the series have been even worse than the Leafs.

Although they have different coaching styles, remember, Babcock and Carlyle both have Stanley Cups on their resumes.

I don't know who the better coach is. But apparently Babcock's system is not working either. Probably Wings fans are whining to fire their coach too lol.

He got into the whole team Canada coaching thing along with coaching the best team in the past 20 years. Babcock does seem like a better coach, but that doesn't mean Carlyle is some idiot.
