Turns out Myers sucks at any price. But it's on the coaching staff for continuing to put him into minutes and situations he shouldn't be in.

What does Brannstrom have to do to get more icetime when the 2nd pair is basically f***ing the team every time they're on the ice?
What we got Brannstrom??

Pathetic effort with 5 shots after 2 periods. Bag skate the shit out of them, please. Healthy scratch Soucy as well, who is AHL calibre this year. Just awful positioning all game, nay, all season so far.

And Tocchet... do something man. 5 shots after 30 mins, call a timeout and give them hell or something. Anything. He can join the bagskate as far as I'm concerned.

Pathetic all around, except for Lekkerimaki's goal.

Again, he's been the driving force for the team for two seasons in a lot of ways and has earned a lot of slack but Miller was f***ing horrible after the Lekk goal. Just not much try, pouting, just throwback Miller shit.

the canucks were bad but the reffing tonight was absolutely atrocious. they actually played well up until the softer than baby shit call on lekk, which seemed to take the wind out of their sails. this effort is still probably a one-off and better teams don't let nonsense like that affect them, but it's still frustrating.

if this system keeps falling flat, tocchet needs to revert to last year. whatever it was is the identity of the team and the players they signed (forbort, desharnais, myers, soucy) probably excel there.

The last PP before they struggled with the zone entry (again) was the best we've seen all season. Instead of just Quinn and Miller tossing it back and forth like they're in the backyard with a baseball, they:

  1. EP one-timer
  2. EP one-timer
  3. Lekk high slot Boeser shot (pass didn't get through)
  4. Garland in Miller's RW spot
  5. Low-high play to Miller for bumper shot
  6. Finished off with Quinn walking the line for a point shot

THen they couldn't get back into the zone but that's what the PP should look like, I don't know how they got into such a predictable and stupid funk.

No use in writing up a game report, everyone's effort was god awful. Last year the team was disgusted with losing and everyone came together to wash that taste of defeat away. Everyone was afraid of what a poor effort meant, and how it could lead to sloppy play and a reversion to the way things were before.

This year, the team is too high on itself, and the effort is inconsistent as heck. If someone made a mistake last year, guys at the bench were yelling at each other to fix it and get it together. This year, nothing.

These home ice performances have been abysmal, and aren't on any specific player or coach. Rather, the collective needs to have a closed door meeting and talk about what it means to play for this hockey team, and if they're going to let teams come into their barn and continue to push them around.

This soft brand of hockey needs to nipped in the butt now. The underlying metrics are there showing how good this team can be, they just need to get their shit together as a group.

Oh, and probably get a defensemen. This Soucy-Myers nonsense can't go on any longer, its abysmal to watch and you could tell Tocchet was fed up too with how often he split them up today.

Concerning game. This is now 3 really poor efforts in the last 7 games. Just looked totally unprepared, all kinds of mental mistakes, zero intensity until the 3rd period. Awful performance.

Lekkerimaki was good and is one of the few guys to escape criticism.

Entire blueline was terrible except for maybe Brannstrom. About as bad as you'll see Hughes play. Hronek with his worst game of the year and holy f*** does he need to do a better job of getting the puck to the net in shooting positions.

Myers-Souray was a disaster. I thought they had been better in the last 3-4 games but they got eviscerated tonight. Myers was just f***ing terrible all game, terrible decisions, terrible positioning, terrible compete ... and then ironically of course he scores. We need another quality D like, yesterday.

JT Miller had zero legs tonight and was awful tracking the play back. Not good enough.

Pettersson was a ghost in the first 40 minutes but to his credit he was one of the guys who did show up in the 3rd.

Even the Sherwood-Blueger-Heinen line wasn't very good tonight for the first time all year.

Hoglander is going to be traded, unless his awful-looking new contract has destroyed his value. Another poor defensive game. If he isn't competing at 110% of the guys around him, he isn't very good.

Joshua was about as expected. A couple good moments, legs did not look in mid-season form.

Lankinen was fine and this game could have been worse without him,

How do you trade more 1st rounders, draft picks and prospects to improve this roster?

I don't think you do.

This roster is much weaker than last year's roster, especially on defense. The loss of Cole and Zadorov are starting to hurt. While Myers and Soucy are sucking wind. The defense is much worse and is becoming a major liability on this roster.

As for the game other than the Lekkerimaki 1st career goal, that game was about as bad as it gets.

Awful effort, shitty defense. Need to get better.
