Or perhaps they just aren't good enough? Maybe they are just playing poorly and are getting beat? It's clear that the core of this team is capable of winning under Carlyle, so saying it's a communication problem isn't necessarily true, same with them not wanting to play to his system. They had some success doing both last year, so maybe they're just in a rough patch, no?

I definitely hope so !

I hate his intermission speeches to players. Ive had AAA coaches that were better then that. Its embarrassing. He makes them feel terrible and never tells them what to do to improve. He needs to tell them directly how to improve. No more of this move your feet, were not competing to the highest level possible.

I can kind of understand why he isn't known as a player coach now.n

They only show the quick speech before the game and intermission speeches. This isn't the time for lectures and teaching, this is when you motivate your team and get them excited to play. They get enough lessons in practice and pre-game exercises

I don't know exactly how to word this properly. But when the coach comes in and says move your feet and were not playing to our capacity. I know he worded it differently but thats how my coach said it. Usually means he doesn't know whats wrong with the team but he doesn't like the outcome.

Cheers I don't know how to word this further.

I'm going purely on a players mentality/I've been playing for for a while and when the coach says things like that he has no idea what to change. Thats why I'm worried
Yeah and you're ignoring the fact that we are not shown every single second of the intermission or any practice, so you're basing your entire opinion/perspective on the Leafs coaching staff on one 5-10 second clip of their coach, when in reality you (and none of us) really have no earthly idea how he coaches. You're saying you're worried because of one clip but you don't know the conversations he has privately with players, or of the conversations he has with them during practice, or on the bench etc.

It's just silly to judge him based on one tiny little clip of footage, when it's pretty clear that HBO isn't showing us raw, unedited footage of his coaching style. We don't know how he truly does things.

Lol @ the Pens/Leafs highlights.

I loved when the ref came in between Phaneuf and the Pens player on the faceoff and was like "**** both you guys! In the box!"

See this is why I don't want to get into an argument. But basically when the coach says that. What he says after sure he can coach his players, but realistically Randy is a great coach IMO, but he is coaching his system to best of his ability it just isn't meant for this team. You have to realize we have probably the best team we've had in a while but they are playing a system that is meant for bigger and more hard nosed players

When Carlyle first came in, he said that the team's speed was an asset and that it was an element of their team game that they needed to build around. Last year, when the Leafs had a strong game Carlyle often attributed it to their speed and constant 'foot on the gas' mentality throughout the game. Even in the handful of games they've played well this year, he's said this same thing. In reverse of that, when the team plays poorly, he often mentions that they've stopped moving their feet. I can understand your concerns from your own personal experiences but I don't necessarily think that it fits this particular narrative when the concept of speed and constant push back with that speed has always been a part of Carlyle approach - even last year when the team was winning more consistently and avoiding these kind of slumps and were generally playing better.

Did I read correctly or was a 'AAA' coach really called better than a Stanley cup winning coach based on a short clip during an intermission? Lol

I wonder what's ultimately going to be viewed as more pathetic: The Washington Capitals' side of things leading to the Winter Classic game against Pittsburgh, or the Leafs'.

Okay so Randy is saying - get pissed off when we lose a faceoff (get mad, cross check, really dig down to win the loss). LOL Randy is such a potty mouth. and then he's saying when we win, we breath better, and have fun and then asked Naz to get him red wine for christmas presents LOL
