Hartman fined for intentionally high sticking Perfetti

If the Jets scrubs injured Thomas twice in less than a year, I bet you'd have think different...

Look, I already said I have no skin in this. I heavily dislike both teams. Both teams are dirty as hell (yes, the Blues have had some very dirty players in my lifetime, so I'm not saying we're innocent in this). I already said my piece on Hartman, and that's all I feel I need to say. He's a scumbag. You don't get as suspended and fined as many times as Hartman has by accident; he's a dirty little rat who should've been suspended for this.

he should have yelled "oh sorry bro my bad totally didn't mean to do that"
have to assume everyone is mic'd up.

he's a rat. not as bad as some, not as dangerous as some, not as prolific as some, but a rat none-the-less.

Mixed feelings about this. He deserves the fine, obviously. But I don’t love using the mics in this manner. The point of mic’ing up a player is to get a glimpse into the raw emotion of the game at ice level, not to build evidence for DOPS cases.
Didn't take a mic or a genius to figure out what a career-long dirty player was trying to do on that play. Refs in the ice somehow missed it, though.

I just say, if Jets injured Thomas twice you'd say something like "Yeah, Hartman is a scumbag but this time he did it right"...

But Hartman was just fined...

Well apparently the CBA says you can't use anything captured on Mic's for disciplinary action...and according to Russo they are made aware of who on the opposing team is Mic'd up. This is a masterful troll job by Hartman knowing the league can't do anything about it and it was going to rustle the jimmy's of all of Winnipeg. You gotta respect the troll honestly.
Yeah man, brilliant, I'm sure it won't be factored in at all the next time Hartman does something stupid.

Nope. No, that's not how I roll. Have not you heard of "two wrongs don't make a right?" If, fate forbid, Thomas or Kyrou is injured twice, and, let's say, Jordan Binnington (whom I hate, by the way; I've long since tired of his antics, and if we could get anything in a trade for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat, especially since we're not having a good season) goes batshit crazy on a player who didn't do anything wrong? I'd be the first one to call for Binnington's suspension.

Two wrongs - whether it's injuring Kaprizov or high-sticking Perfetti - does not make a right. It never does.

Hartman doesn't have much in the way of brains and is certainly dirty, but its also hard not to be frustrated when the same team hurts your star player 2 years in a row. I'm sure the jets would have done more than nothing if the wild had injured Connor a couple of times, not that I am defending anyone trying to injure or get revenge on any player but these things do happen all the time.
Um... Hartman injured Ehlers with a dirty hit just before the playoffs last year.

The first Kaprizov injury was entirely accidental. The one by Dillon was a cross-check that could have been called, but it's the type of low cross-check that a D like Middleton does a few times every game. It rarely causes injury.

My buddy told me a story when he was overseas watching the World Juniors.

He said that a few of the States guys came in, Hartman was acting like a big shot. He got heckled a bit by the Canadian fans, he then poured a beer over his own head and was like “What? What now!”

He said it was super weird.

That's...actually pretty funny

Actually, I do agree with this. I do not condone the high-stick one bit and I am generally happy with the fine though I wish he got a game but yeah, don't use the mics for evidence. You want to ensure guys refuse to wear them? Do this.

I mean, one was a penalty from an intentional slash to the face, the other was a routine cross-check that happens in every single board battle in the NHL, take your pick..
"Routine cross check" shouldn't even be a thing since Cross checking is illegal.
There is a reason so many players have had their backs destroyed in this league. Cross checking is a big portion of that and needs to be eliminated from the game.

But it hasn't been eliminated, hence the "routine" part. It happens so many times a game, it's just that this time a soft Wild player got hurt and the entire fanbase lost their minds over it.

I agree it hasn't been eliminated, that doesn't mean they aren't dangerous and are completely "ok" to injure players doing so.
I say this anytime someone is injured by cross checks in this league, because it's already clearly against the rules and the league chooses to only pick and choose when to enforce said rule.
If they called it every time, you wouldn't see it anywhere close to routine and players wouldn't get their backs destroyed and shorten their careers so much.

Most players don't get injured from something like that, but I guess Dillon should have realized it was tissue-paper Kaprizov he was checking. This whole situation is hilarious, can't wait for the next game!

Most players don't miss games directly from it, but occasionally they get bad enough to where they do.
What usually happens, is the player plays through the back pain until it gets so bad, they can't walk and need surgery to repair.
Just ask Zach Parise what the accumulation of cross checks did to him.

Honestly, the admission that Hartman did it on purpose should have made the punishment much more severe than a max fine. League dropped the ball on this one.

I know that the league can't use what was said on the mic against him, but with the amount of fines and suspensions in his career, it wouldn't have been hard to justify a couple of games.

Best thing Jets can do is just let this go and keep going about their business.

They can play just as tough as the wild, they can play dirty, and they are better than them. No sense getting into this eye for an eye situation with them again.

It already led to Hartman taking out Ehlers on a dirty hit last year and him not being available games 1-4 vs Vegas.

We don't have anything to prove to these dudes. Just keep playing aggressive and on the edge like any good team would. This shot for shot stuff after the Kaprizov injury could have cpst both teams even more.

And Dillon went after Kaprizov instead of the likes of Hartman, Foligno or Maroon.

Bitch moves lead to more bitch moves.

I kind of agree with Wild fans here. Even if it's accidental, you need to do something more than just square off between two guys not involved. Especially when it's the same team two years in a row.

Both teams fans calling each other dirty when fact is we are both chippy and bring out the worst in each other.
