Berard with a controlled goal in O.T.
Pack 2 Islanders 1.
Sykora with a strong game.
Othmann’s knick name is “Otter” should be “Shooter”. Carries the puck in overtime on a 3 on 1 could have walked in an shook the goaltenders hand; didn’t even look to pass but instead shot from the left circle.
He’ll learn.
Garand was great. Lost his shutout halfway through the 3rd.

yes from my observations Othman’s issues are absolutely coachable and this is a great example. he’s used to having a shot that can beat goalies from anywhere but that doesn’t work in the pros. i don’t to take away from the fact that he’s having an objectively great rookie year, there are just obvious improvements that need to be
made

also want to say that the Pack are really suffering with their lack of quality centers. it’s very apparent on zone entries and on the PP. all of their centers are ideally bottom 6 players or in Henrikssons case, imo, the 4th line. Berard is a great line driver but there are many times he is solely responsible for entries to work because his center (Henriksson) is too slow and opts for dump ins a lot. It’s a great developmental item for Berard but i do think that context is needed.

also wanted to note that since Pitlick went down, Othmann lost his spot on the 1st line to him. for the better imo, again he will learn.

Pack keeps losing Fs

They added Bertuzzi and Jenkins this week, maybe they recall Panwar from Cincy

Having 3 guys leave for Europe in season didnt help (worrad, doherty, digiacinto)
And Bonino wouldnt go
And a guy signed in summer seems to have paused his career Tristan Mullin

AhL teams need deep rosters to get thru full seasons

Why would that happen?
Why does any prospect get moved at the trade deadline? Gms of playoff teams make moves to bolster current rosters. Neither you or I can call Brett Berard untouchable. Only Drury knows what will make him pull the trigger.

So, I chose to... while scratching my nuts and drinking coffee to

speculate ( minimum or otherwise) about a prospect for a player on a message board with an "imagine if" impliction.

Thats all.

Sure but I'd be surprised to see Sykora or Berard get traded in a rental or for a no impact player like Nic Dowd. Rangers brass are high on those two. I can't see Othmann, Cuylle, Garand, or Perrault going anywhere for anything less than a high impact top 6 player with term.

Everybody and their mother is saying the Rangers are scouring the market for at least 1 maybe 2 top 9 wingers and a serviceable LD. Obviously Bread, Mika, Kreider, Laf, Trocheck, Fox, Trouba, are going nowhere. That leaves Kakko, Cuylle, Vesey, Schneider, Gus. If the Rangers are insistent on keeping their 1st, and Gabe and most likely Othmann are off limits, do you really think that Brett Berard is going to stop Drury from making a move or two by not adding him in a trade in 3 weeks? All while other teams are loading up around them?

Sorry. I don't believe that. I used Berard for Dowd as a joke based around Berards excellent play and the fact that a Dowd type, is the kind of player that some think the Rangers would like to add. Maybe. Who knows.

My speculation was based on a trade like that would cause a meltdown here. I wouldn't like it either.

Again. That's all.

Some have almost every good player " OFF LIMITS" but want a player or two for a cup run that can help, added magically at the trade deadline for nothing.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

If Brett Berard ends up in a trade for Henrique, or Vatrano, or Olloffson or whoever, I'm gonna be disappointed, but I won't be shocked. And I don't believe he is "off limits".

Perreault is my only prospect untouchable. I'd like to keep Garand and Othmann personally.

Agree. Especially in case of Berard / Sykora where you can see a lot of similarities it could allow front office to let one go when / if the push comes to shove. Our hope is that it’s in the right deal.

Why did we release Arty from his PTO - Don't we have injuries all over the lineup?

... which (unless NYR sign him to NHL SPC, doubtful) tells me the release was deserved and needed

with 3-in-3 starting tomorrow, expect roster adds to be named soon ...

For our WP watchers, what's the skinny on Trivigno this year? Over the last 2-3 years all I'd ever read was how puzzling his usage/treatment was - health scratches despite playing well, etc. Has that changed this year? Where do you guys think he stands in the organization?

He has played 38 of 46 games this year. IIRC, there were some scratches early on, but attrition has him playing every game now.

He's not a bad player at that level, but he hasn't produced much, and he's not really built for a bottom 6 role. He just turned 25 a month ago. He may get another contract with the Rangers, but I doubt he's in their long-term plans.

At least Pitlick was willing to go to Hartford. Bonino was just being selfish by not going. Hope no one signs him.
Bonino is 3 years older, has a cup, and has been an everyday NHLer since he broke into the league. No shame in hanging them up when you can't do it anymore. He has $30M in career earnings, so I doubt squeezing that last $300k out of his deal was worth reporting to Hartford.

Pitlick has been a healthy scratch 13th F type for years, and had $9M in career earnings. He still has his legs (before we sent him down, he was decently high on the list of 20+ MPH speed burst instances), so I'm sure he feels he still has something in the tank.

Unfortunately I agree with GAGLine. I thought last year he wasn't used properly and still was productive and creative. But this year even given a bigger role with all of the injuries he's been less productive and when I've watched I've seen fewer plays that he creates. It's hard to imagine he's in the Rangers long term plans.

According to the ECHL Transactions Page Indianapolis has loaned defenseman Chris Cameron to Hartford. Big right handed shot defensman in his third ECHL season.

This finally has shown up on the AHL transactions page but as of right now nothing about a forward on either the AHL or ECHL page. So maybe the team goes 11F and 7D. And two of the Fs are recent ECHL players. The scoring has really tanked, not surprisingly, given the call ups and injuries and the team is in trouble.
