On the first goal Mackey is beaten and the Penguin player comes in alone and beats Garand. Nice pass by Ty Smith allowing Penguing player to beat Mackey.

On the second goal, which is on the Pack PP, on the face-off Nash attempts to pass the puck back to Hollowell but a Penguin beats Hollowell to the puck and breaks past him and comes in alone to beat Garand. That's two goals on breakaways.

Third goal Penguiins break in 3 on 2 and get a good shot that misses but the Penguins keep the puck in the zone. Garand stops a shot from the point and no one picks up a Penguins player who had a couple of seconds to beat Garand. Robertson and Broulliard were the two defensemen on the ice but neither covered the Penguin player to Garand's left. At least it wasn't a break away.

Goal 4 is a Power play goal. Edstrom gets too far up top and when the puck gets behind him it leaves Scanlin having to watch two players and the Penguins get a shot from the right slot that beats Garand.

The team is just terrible tonight. I'm going to go watch a movie with my wife.
Looks like Elson in for BobbyT
Hillman for Harpur
(Elson for Harpur as veteran)
Yes that's correct. That's Bobby T's second scratch of the season. I don't get it but with Bobby getting into no pre season games and two scratches in the first six games it sure looks like the Rangers have given up on him.

Yeah hopefully they can trade Trivigno for another change of scenery guy. I mean I absolutely don't want to trade him, but it doesn't seem like they see him as a long term piece. I have a decent amount of trust in the organization at the moment, so I don't know what to make of this one. Maybe there's more to it than what we can see.

Maybe like Henriksson he just isn't that good. Who the heck thought Henriksson was worth drafting with a 2ed round pick?

Henriksson is weird because he was drafted as more of a skill guy, but he transformed himself into a guy who might fit on a bottom line playing with energy, killing penalties, etc. Reminiscent of Steven Fogarty in a sense. I didn't like the pick at the time due to his physical profile, and I don't really think much of him now, but I acknowledge he has a chance. I think it's more likely he's back in Sweden at the end of his ELC but who knows.

Pack underway trying to avoid losing 3 in a weekend

Looks like they're dressing 7D and 11 Fs,
scratching Elson, Leschyshyn, Henriksson, Worrad

That was a bad call on Edstrom. I was watching a game two weeks ago and a player got hit in the face while going down and the referee told the coach of the player who was hit that it wasn’t a penalty because his player was bending over reaching for the puck.
No surprise with hockey rules being arbitrary.

2-0 pack after 2 periods.
Nash with his second of the night.

Cincinnati is off to a 1-3 start scoring 15 goals and giving up 17. Of the players with NHL or AHL contracts:

Christiano De Giacinto 4 games, 3 assists, even +/-, 10 shots
Matej Pekar, 4 games, 1 goal 1 assist, -2, 10 shots
Zach Berzolla, 4 games , 1 assist, -2, 11 shots
Olaf Lindholm, 3 games, 1-2, 4.05 GAA, 0.864 SV
Talyn Boyko, 1 game, 0-1, 5.08 GAA, 0.853 SV

The goalie numbers are inflated by a poor penalty kill stopping only 12 of 19 chances.
Only 10 goals have been at even strength.

As Ranger Ric has mentioned earlier about wishing Adam Sykora had started in the WHL this season and if sending him there now is an option Sykora should go.
To me he does not appear to be physically ready for the AHL.
On many shifts he is easily taken off the puck.

Yeah a lot of people crapped on the idea but I thought it made sense. Let him focus on developing his offense in junior. Focus on strength in the off-season and come ready to roll next year.

Big changes tonight:

Domingue called up -- Garand starts with an EBUG Jordan Laura

Defense -- Mackey called up. Robertson out day to day. Hillman with Scanlin, Broulliard with harper, Hollowell is the 5th defenseman with Bobby Tivigno possibly playing with him. If not he is a 13th forward.

Forwards -- Brodzinski up. Lines are Belize -- Nash -- Othmann, Edstrom -- Leschyschen -- Barard, Sykora -- Henriksson -- Blidh, Elson -- Korczak -- Rempe.

Worrard was called up but he is not with the team and is not available. Sounds weird.

Change even with the coaches with Steve Smith out on a personal issue and Paul Mara coming in to run the defense.

thanks for all the news

maybe see Berzolla recalled for Utica game if no Robertson/Mackey
not hoping for attrition but will be interested if/when they recall/dress Pekar

Everyone who had Ben Harpur scoring the first goal come on down and pick up your prize.

Othmann picks up the puck and sees that Belle and Harpur are free on the right side. Breaking in 2-0 Belzile finds Harpur in front. Another heavy weight fight with Matt Rempe. Both Hillman and harper go hard into the boards and stay down but eventually return. Pack with only five D tonight. Trivigno not playing defense. Shots 8-8 Lehigh Valley.
