Prospect Info: Hartford Wolf Pack/Bloomington Bison Thread: Part XV

I didn't watch after the first period but just caught up on the goals. On LV's third goal Harpur was either elbowed or high sticked and lost his man who took a pass in front and scored.

That left the Pack with Scanlin, Hillman, Hollowell and Broulliard. The last three are not very good defensively. Looks for call ups for tomorrow night.
Pack lose in OT
I like Adam Edstrom a lot but he lost his man who was able to tap in a pass.

Nothing to replace Brodzinski but that's less of an issue than the D.
yeah they'd been carrying 2 spare F
If Blidh out tonight while Brodz up

they play all of
Nash-Belzile-Elson Triv
Lesch-Edstrom-KarlH-Rempe
Berard-Korczak-Othmann-Sykora

which means 8 young guys, 5 rookies
and 3 with no more than 1 season plus ~17 days NA pro experience

this is why NYR did not really sign/assign too many veterans to Pack
these types of roster upheaval are not uncommon

He'll learn. It's short term pain for long-term success.

wow that's interesting,
they flat out released him, from contract he had just signed in summer
?maybe he wants to try Europe rather than being in ECHL?

Date Player Team Transaction
2023-10-24 Seth Barton (D) Hartford DEL Released from SPC
2023-10-24 Seth Barton (D) Hartford ADD Recalled from loan to Cincinnati (ECHL)
yep he chose Europe
... or he might even be dressing tonight in Utica ...

Love me some Edstrom. Big, tough, immensely strong, and good hands. Versatile. I'd be really surprised if he doesn't end up a quality fourth liner somewhere, even if it's not here.

Gutsy win with three players recalled and Harpur hurt.

Barard, who is playing well, makes a bad turnover in the defensive zone, leading to an easy goal with Garand helpless. Utica also gets a gift goal when a shot intended to go around the boards hits something and comes right out front with a Utica player there. Otherwise, the Pack continue to play good defense with Garand stopping 31 of 33 shots and not at fault on either of the two goals.

On offense, Hollowell with a PP blast from the point in the first. In the second Berzolla gets the puck at the point and comes down the boards and shoots almost from the goal line with the goalie leaving a small area against the post open. Good on Berzolla but that shot is stopped 99 out of 100 times. The game winner is Edstrom picking up a rebound of a Matt Robertson shot from the point and backhanding it home. That was a play you love to see Edstrom make. The skating, checking and physicality are excellent. The question is how much offense can he bring to determine what level he can achieve in the NHL. He's made some good offensive plays in his Hartford tenure. Hopefully he can continue to making those plays. Although this is his third goal the first two were empty netters.

After 9 games Hartford in second place in the division, three points behind Caldor Cup winning Hershey but with two games in hand. The team has scored 10 more goals than it has given up over those nine games. The team has only lost two games, with one a stinker, and has an overtime loss last night with the team playing most of the game with only four defensemen manages a gutsy point.

I'm thinking Berard and Edstrom might be the first call ups should they be needed. Especially berard. Though, Id like to see most players stay put as long as possible. No need to rush anyone.

Just my gut feeling, but, if need arises, I don't think either is recalled ahead of Nash, Belzile, Lesch, Blidh or even maybe Othmann

Very glad they're contributing early, but they're still barely 10 games into NA pro careers..

Yeah all those guys we signed on the day free agency opened, those guys were brought in not just to be good veterans for Hartford but to the that depth when a few guys went down in the NHL.
