The pack has a pretty good team. If chytil and DiGiuseppe are called up though I fear for them. Haha

I’d rather call Fil up now and have him be part of the solution rather than have us settle into some form of mediocrity and then shove him into that later causing another disruption in synergy.

being able to score at the ahl level was never the issue and doesn't necessarily tell the whole picture but still hats off to chytil for going down there and being the best player. i'm sure the news wasn't easy after spending the whole year in the NHL last year. he could have moped but instead looks determined to show the rangers he belongs in the NHL asap. so good on him

Keane looks solid. Lindgren too. Geertsen, while clearly being an AHL guy looks like a vet there. Nothing more than that though.

They might have finally gotten the right kind of players for Hartford. The AHL vets are actually positive for the team.

Another key is LoVerde--he gives them a steady vet presence in the defensive end that they haven't had in a while. Geertsen is the other vet and his size and muscle helps a lot. Pack is not running around like headless chickens in their own end this year......and to top that off Shesterkin and Huska are just better goalies than Halverson and Nell.

I think Keane should be in the AHL the entire year though. He needs to get stronger and is too similar in style to DeAngelo and Fox.....but so far he's made a very nice transition from the juniors to the pros. Not everyone does that and the offense he's brought is much needed by the Hartford blueline.

Whether the Rangers can make a playoff run is debatable but there's no reason that Hartford shouldn't this year. Creating a winning environment is something we need organization wide. This looks like it could be a very good AHL team. It's a step in the right direction.

Knoblauch and DQ should swap roles. He even shares initials with a certain Finnish deity!

This was always an option with whomever we hired for the HFD job. DQs job is tough. I think we knew what we where going to get in terms of energy and pushing guys in the right way when we hired him, which is great in itself. Long term he has a very tough job description that isn’t that easy to survive.

Has Keane been Hartford's best overall defenseman?

He is playing better than in Traverse and early camp, but still mixing high with low. But there are some competitions for the spots in HFD and he is certainly making a case for himself from that perspective. But I think he must become more steady before the coach feels like he is that reliant type you can turn to in all situations.

I’ve of course not seen a ton of HFD, but didn’t feel like they had a clear No 1. Sean Day played and with more calm than I’ve seen before. Geertsen won’t get a ton of love as a NHL ‘prospect’, but at the AHL level I bet the coaches likes him a lot. Steady and a lot of attitude and respect. Lindgren is good but not really the No 1 type. Raddysh is a solid AHL player and so forth.

The glaring problem for the Rangers is the 2C spot. We're just not going to get great production out of our second line if we don't have someone on it that can make plays. That's usually your center. I have no doubt that Kakko will be able to do that in the relative near future but he's 18 and getting his feet wet. I don't see either Howden or Andersson as good 2C options. Chytil was our best hope--he's doing well in Hartford but IMO I'd rather leave him there into November and really build his offensive confidence as much as possible.

It is Quinn's job to get his players to perform at their highest level. With so many kids though it's not easy.

how can't they protect him when he is the only goalie we need to protect? igor is exempt and hank will be a pending UFA. as it stands now not only will we protect georgiev if he is here but we also will need to go out and sign another veteran to meet the requirements of players to expose.

Because I thought it was in 2020, not 2021, dammit. ;)

Maine falls 5-4 to Reading but Ty Running has a second straight multi point game with a power play goal and assist.

Ronning 1+2 -1 1 shot
Elmer 0-0 -2 2 shots
Zerter-Goassage 0-0 -1 1 shot
Leedahl 0-0 -1 1 shot
Dmowski Scratched
Crawley Scratched

According to today's AH transactions, Hartford called up Shawn McBride and loaned him to Norfolk in the
ECHL. McBride had been on the Maine injured reserve list. Maine has too many players at the present time and loaning McBride to Norfolk reduces the Maine roster and gives McBride a chance to play.

Chytil seems to have found a nice groove in Hartford. I'd let him stay there for a bit and keep building up his confidence before asking him to come up and fix our second line.

100%.

We're talking about him playing against legit NHL prospects and cuts, AHL vets of all ages, etc., and he's looking great. He's reading plays, he's making passes, he's taking shots, and he's stronger on the puck in a way that he only showed glimpses of in the NHL. I don't see any reason to rush him back to the middle of the mess we have in the NHL. Looks to have done well with his line mates as well. Let him play until it's clear he has nothing else to learn.

Lias played his way in through camp, but I didn't there was anything wrong with keeping Lias in the AHL, either. Let these guys build confidence and become too good for the A.

How has Joey Keane looked? Saw that he had 4 points in 6 games or something like that

Lindgren also seems to be doing well... Wonder if he'll swap out with Hajek at some point

among NYR/HWP F's at Maine are
Elmer, Leedahl, Ronning, LZG, Dmowski
(and technically Chase, who is on HWP pact, but is a MM returnee and regular)
... and sometimes/maybe Gropp

I want Rykov get heal and get himself in the mix ASAP at LD. Even with underperforming ADA and rookie Fox, RD is immensely better than straggling Skjei and (especially?) Staal.
