I'm one of the few who are glad Sutter may be here. More than the losses, I've been frustrated by the lack of physicality and intensity. If Sutter brings that to the team I'm happy, as I know that will lead to more wins.

I'm totally open to the Sutter hiring. You know how many times I've dreamed of having a coach that will not allow any egos on the team, that will hold each and every player accountable for their mistakes? Sutter is the guy.

I think Sutter, when he gets here in 2015, is really going to help Clifford.

I like how he mentions how many but not who they are. What a stupid.

If you name them, then you can't just make up a number like that. Millard likely knows jack, but needs to get in on the hot topic.

"Dean said he has a short list. Three is short."

Then he says it's narrowed to two and Sutter is believed to be one. Non-commital, but believable.

Millard and Dreger are two "insiders" that I've never believed to be insiders at all on Canadian sports media.

I think players should realize that if they don't, they might find themselves with another team in the not too distant future.

Is the quote for real? Does she not understand anything about the game of hockey works? I am sure that is what all the players are thinking right now. "Yah our coach is just a temp so I am going to cruise until Sutter is hired".:shakehead

The players play hard no matter who is behind the bench, AT VERY LEAST that is their livelyhood and they are not going to go half-assed and potentially cost them money/opportunities down the road. Not to mention any player with ANY self-respect is going to want to get the team back to playoff picture and beyond, since that is the point of playing the game. I cannot fathom why she thinks the players would not try. Ridiculous.

Probably because it looks like the players have been going through the motions for much of the season now...

Millard is far from an insider. He's the one that said the Kings won the Kovalchuk sweepstakes and he was on his way to L.A. to sign the contract, when he was only on his way to be wined and dined by the team.

LA Times reporter Lisa Dillman tweeted that Darryl Sutter could be making his Kings debut next week on the 22nd against the Ducks. It makes a lot of sense considering the Kings would be back home from their road trip and have two days off prior to that game. Will give the players a couple of practices to work with the new coaching staff.

Yup. Bingo. Gives them a few days to get over the Murray swap. Gives Sutter a few days to handle his personal affairs. And it gives him a fresh start at home...and they are probably going to announce it Monday or Tuesday so that he has Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday to practice with the team before we have our next game on THursday

They must be cheapskates up in Calgary...

Josh Rimer:
The Holdup in Sutter stepping behind Kings Bench is working out finacial terms with Calgary on the remainder of his contrat with the Flames.

I can't believe DL has allowed this to become the circus in front of us right now.

I don't understand how such vital information winds up being leaked and I can't even imagine the distraction in the Kings Locker room right now. If Sutter is the guy then he should have been lined up weeks ago. I realize that I don't know all the details behind the scenes with visas and stuff but I can't recall seeing something play out quite like this before.

This whole thing is making me sad, then angry, then sad again.

Really? Circus and Dean go hand in hand. Mike Murphy, Kovalchuk, Smyth, Cloutier & now Murray just to name a few.

Dean admitted that he didn't want to search for a replacement until he fired Murray in person. Seems like upper management wanted Murray gone sooner than Dean did.

Other teams had their new coach lined up before they fired their current coach. The Ducks asked Washington for permission 2 or 3 days before they fired Carlyle.

Actually, it makes it sound like Dean wasn't expecting to fire Murray so soon. It seems evident that the order came from AEG, perhaps even the leak as well...

Remember, to talk to Sutter, the Kings would have had to formerly and publicly ask Calgary for the right to do so. They would have had to fire Murray before they did that anyway.

Either way, the timeline would have been the same. Fire Murray, ask Calgary, allow Sutter to settle contract and the business he runs, let Stevens handle the team in the meantime, and then make the transition.
