Obviously an off-season concern for the Avalanche, but for salary geeks , how much do you think Drouin signs for on his next contract?

I guess a better question would be what would you give him ?

Likely takes another team friendly deal for 3m I’d say. At least, I would if I were him. He can win on a contender, out of the spotlight and they saved his career.

He may get 4-5m open market.

I was a huge doubter of Drouins and cant say I’ve seen enough since he came to Colorado to really form a new opinion on what he is longterm, but obviously he has found a way to be a pretty effective middle 6 forward for them.

I think it makes sense for everyone to keep the train rolling rather than chasing pay/contract ‘security’. I hope he keeps it up, it would be a great story and its hard not to cheer for him after all he’s been through.

I’d expect him to sign 2-4 years at about 1.5x his current deal

1 year 3m max.
Any gm who gives Drouin a multi year deal will be give the Chuck Fletcher Golden raspberry gm award.
You never should pay players on better year on a contract year.

Feel like a lot of these replies are people remembering the Habs version of Drouin. He's been much better since he joined the Avs likely due to less spotlight/pressure?

Regardless, I can't see him making much less than $4M on the Avs and perhaps more on the open market.

Drouin has 76 points (53 ES) in his last 86 GP.

Before you say anything, throw the "product of MacKinnon" narrative in the trash. They've only linked up for points - both assisted on the same goal or assisted on each other's goal - (8) times this season.

Drouin is a player who's had availability issues, which factors into the mix. He's happy in Colorado and already took less money to stay there once. My thinking is something similar to the Tarasenko/Zucker deals ($4.75x2), with maybe an extra 1-2 years added (he's ~3 years younger).
