On Hockey DB, it's written that he's born in Montréal. Might have been raised in Orlando, though... Dunno !

" Harvey’s parents are from Montreal, and returned to make sure their son was born there before returning to Florida.

He is a Canadian citizen, but as a resident of Florida, his first strides into the game were made on inline skates."

Morgan Ellis...visiting this site yesterday got me digging into Bulldog stats. Anybody seen him play lately?

Ellis' stats seemed to point to him having much better season than last. His +/- has made radical improvement and he has as mainy points in 35 games this year as he had in 70 last year.

Anyone else able to shed some light on Ellis' play... I just checked out Hamilton's stats as a result of Thomas' call up and I noted that Ellis is leading the team in +\-. (What a lot of apostrophes in my post)

Brunet is rarely wrong? If he's rarely wrong on prospects, what's he doing earning $50,000 per annum as a reporter when he could be a head scout or manager making $250,000 plus?

Anyway - I'm not sure what Memorial Cup run you speak of...Harvey played NCAA hockey.

As far as french hockey reporters go, he's my favorite. So I guess I should say he's rarely wrong compared to other french hockey reporters.

Harvey?

I dont like Brunet, his analysis anf opinion are far too Pejorative Slured but i must admit he has an eye for the prospects.

watching the Dogs right now, Tinordi looks quite aweful turning the puck over basically everytimes he touches it.. His puck skills are atrocious in this game, he handles the it like it was a grenade, very desapointing.. On the other hand, Pateryn looks pretty solid all around once again, based only on this game you would say Pateryn is miles ahead of Tinordi..

here is a link to the game: http://uxu.tv/livestreaming/5/75044/february-1-2014/hamilton-bulldogs-vs-abbotsford-heat.html

Leblanc looks like an average AHLer.. I think its safe to call him Lebust at this point.. should have never left Harvard..

I remember very well that some years ago, Mathias Brunet said that Leblanc may be a 3rd liner, at best.

Leblanc is average at everything, even in the AHL he stood out at absolutely nothing.. His skating is average, his shot is weak to average, his puck skills are average.. only his defensive game is slightly above average.. Well he works well along the boards but thats it.. He just had a good chance to go to the net, it was open in front of him but hasnt been fast enough to get in position for a good scoring chance..

Dogs lost 6-0 to the baby Flames, they played like a bunch of morons, period. Pateryn is the only NHL ready one and Andrighetto is the only fowards with top 6 potential.. I doubt they make the playoffs if Beaulieu stays up..

If the Hawks lost 6-0 to an ECHL team would you say Kane and Toews suck ass ? Come on... when the Habs lose 3 straight everyone is ******* but when they win 4 straight fricking Diaz is a legit #3.... LOL

Leblanc will be just fine.

I think he is done with the Habs and I doubt he finds a job elsewhere in the NHL too..

Ellis is out so they are short another D on top of Beaulieu.

Leblanc looked like an acceptable bottom 6 player with the habs.

Tinordi just needs to be better than Murray this year. You have to hope that's not a problem.

How much more seasoning does Andrighetto need? Do you think he could replace Gionta next year?

The problem isn't him replacing Gionta's offense it's that Gionta is one of our best defensive players and does a lot of small things to help the team win games. Fans usually overlook those two things. The team would also be losing a big leader, but I think a few younger guys like Gorges Plekanec and Prust can take a bigger role.

It's actually all he does, he's got only one more goal than Brière with more than 400 minutes of qualitu TOI over him. At this point Gionta is a defensive specialist. I like Gio and defensive play will be missed.

Even though this isn't about Gionta, he's not a defensive specialist.

Plekanec, Moen, Eller, White, Prust and even Pacioretty are better, or showing they're better than Gionta.

Bournival could easily replace Gionta's defensive play. At 5 mill you can easily get someone to replace his 9 goals. He has 17 assists, but he gets pp time and plays with Plekanec. 6 points on the the pp2 goals, 4 assists. It would be easy to replace him in every facet. I just hope they don't replace his diminutive stature.

Still, a guy with his work ethic and defensive play at 40 points is valuable. He isn't a 5 mil caliber player any more, but will still need to be replaced.

Bournival is fine defensively and grinding but nowhere close to a 40 point guy right now.

Not sure why White is brought up, he's a 4th liner not a 40 point top 9 guy. Eller is struggling to replace the 12-13 Eller nevermind replacing Gionta.

Yeah I agree with all those names except Pacioretty. Pacioretty despite playing on the PK nowadays has one of the worst defensive awareness I've ever seen, he's better than last year in that aspect but he's definitely not better than Gionta defensively.

His explosion on skates makes up for it ;)

Just like reach, skating can get you out of trouble.

Those are the players close to, or better than Gionta defensively. To replace his offense is easy since we'll be shedding his 5 mill.

He's gaining ground. Gionta has his moments, but then again, so does Desharnais...

Brenden Gallagher as a case study proves that a player can be better in the NHL than the AHL.
