Dahlin is just as bad Defensively, the only difference is he isn't playing in front of Kaapo f***ing Kahkonen.

I'm always surprised at Jared Spurgeon. Every year he flies under the radar.

Morrissey had a bad game yesterday, or else he would be higher.

Makar ran away with this stat last year.
Very interesting. Would you care to explaine the "components" to someone who dont know them? I understand the first 4 ones but how does takeaway gar work? And draw gar for defensemen?

EK has like what 40 assists? What is with this narrative that his teammates don't finish? But his expected GA per 60 is a giant red candle.

I'm sure the rest of the Sharks team will take solace in Karlsson winning a Norris (instead of making the playoffs).

Would vote for Karlsson. The team's such garbage.

And no, I'm not buying the "it's an advantage that his team is so bad"-argument.
Exactly, what happened to Makar when his team got bad and relied on him more?

It takes arguments like this to downplay EK’s season. Do you have any idea how many chances EK generates for his teammates each and every game that they just flat out can’t contribute on, fumbling the puck, misread plays etc? With elite finishers, a Thompson, a Rantanen, a MacKinnon (Dahlin, Makar), off course he’d have even more assists.

As for his GF, yeah it could be better but could also be a lot worse and there’s not a single expert in this league by now holding that against him and who doesn’t think his offence more than makes up for it. It would be a miracle if the #1 offensive D on this Sharks team would have a stunningly positive GF.

Is it me, or does this seem like kind of a weak year for the Norris? I feel like we would normally see someone more visibly challenging Karlsson's offensive dominance, kind of like Makar and Josi last season. No shade to Dahlin and Morrisey, but they aren't having what I would normally think of as the kind of season that wins a Norris.

Josi had 96 points last season, Makar had 86. That's a 10 point gap.

Dahlin is on pace for 99 points, EK is on pace for 108, that's a 9 point gap. Morrissey by the way is scoring at a 94 point rate, Fox at 80. I'd say the gap is similar to last season with Josi and the pack.

I'd have to look through the evolving hockey website to determine how it is exactly calculated (I don't have time today).

The reference page is here. I'm assuming it's not behind paywall.

Who do you believe should win the Norris this year. EK is leading the pack in points but is it enough? Morrissey is having a surprising season and dahlin and fox is also in the mix.
Half way ....EK....end of year ...Makar...however EK seems like.henon a mission

Just you.

Karlsson is on pace for 108 points. Dobson is on pace for 48.... He will never be Makar or Karlsson for that matter. Great player not remotely close to that tier. So you shouldnt have voted for other is my point.

Fully agree with this.

It's funny as I was driving home form work today thinking about what a golden age for Dmen right now.

Also Dahlin is having the kind of season that wins a Norris but Morrisey much less so.

I fully agree. Maybe never has there been so many skilled Dmen at the same time. Well maybe in the 80's with Bourque, Coffey and Housley at the same time but the skill set for defensemen has developed, you didnt see those ankle breakers on the blueline as frequently as from guys like Karlsson, Makar, Dahlin and even guys like Klingberg (even though he´s having a down year), and other really skilled but maybe not as flashy defensemen like Fox, Heiskanen, Josi. I love this era for Ds.

Insane that 3/4 Dmen in converstation is swedish.
It's only half.

The Pionk effect is real.

I think Morrissey’s xGA line was half that only a week ago

Yeah... Pionk is dragging him down hard
