I just googled and went with the first 20 recent mock drafts. This includes NHL.com, ESPN, The Hockey Writers, Bleacher Report, Daily Faceoff, The Athletic... Here's where Reinbacher was projected.

6, 8, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 5, 8, 5, 6, 6, 8, 16, 5, 6, 6, 5, 9, 10, 7

Median is exactly 6th.
Actually, just did the math, the median would be rounded up to 7. So yea

yes and the average is what you should be calulating, not the median lol. The average ranking based on your numbers were 7.
No. In statistic, average is absolutely not what you should be using with that kind of data. 57% placed him 5th or 6th . If your conclusion is that 7th is representative of your data set you're doing it wrong.

And those 57% show your initial statement was wrong anyway.

Is this really surprising? The Habs organization have always shown favoritism to a certain demographic, now some of the fans are behaving the same way the organization does...

Fans of Canadian teams "Why do none of our players want to stay here"
Also Fans of Canadian teams speaking of an 18yr with no control of who selects him. "We just drafted hitler, i hope he dies" or some such
Going from your avatar I assume you're a Dallas fan and can only assume you are from there and the general area of the south, I don' think I should have to tell you what players of a certain colour must have gone through from fans in that neck of the woods over the years so I wouldn't get too preachy about hockey fans from Canada.

I remember when Doug Williams won the super bowl becoming the first black quarterback to win a super bowl and in the article in sports illustrated ( i was a subscriber at the time) they asked him what it all meant to him and the lowest point he had on his journey to being where he was right now and he said that when Tampa bay lost a playoff game (he was the QB of the bucs at the time) he received a package in the mail and when he opened it up he found a rotten watermelon with a note that read..........." if it wasn't for your @#%^& ass Tampa would have been super bowl champions this year"

Far be it from anyone down there to give lectures to anyone if you ask me. It's not like people aren't aware of the history down there.

The world has a lot of crazy assholes all over, period.

So you say, Though I can't know for sure can I? changes nothing about the general point..............................there is unhinged fans everywhere, everyone knows this, including you...................wherever you are from.

Trying to make it look area specific, that is making an ass out of yourself. Athletes in every city and every big sport get targeted on a fairly regular basis by unhinged individuals.

In hockey sure, it's the biggest sport, but it goes on everywhere where sports are popular, unfortunately it's part of the deal, humans can be pretty nasty folks.

Not to mention that at least you specified a specific area of the US which actually holds a notorious reputation for such actions, which is much more respectable than what @M88K did and used this one time, rare incident to generalize an entire country.

In the end I guess I just feel angry that there is always these crazy fans in every fan base that does these things to the players as it appears was done to Reinbacher, it can't be easy on them, and their actions always tarnish the good fans of whom make up the majority.

Holy wandering!

What does it even have to do with this thread? Some angry fans wanted Russian Matvei Mitchkov instead of Austrian David Reinbacher.

The urge to go there really was that strong?

Agreed, but (and I guess you can say this is a little selfish of me) what bothers me more about it is that we as Canadian fans have to walk on egg shells with the other fan bases. Whenever Boston fans do something along these lines nobody, Canadian or otherwise, accuses American fans in general of being this way. We are smart enough to know it only represents specific Boston fans. And certainly nobody generalizes Swedish, Russian, etc fans if this were to occur there.

Canada is literally the only fanbase that, if one person does something idiotic, it reflects the entire nation. Even if it's something unprecedented. That's what makes it even more frustrating.

We are being accused of xenophobia by closeted xenophobes. The irony.

I actually suggested a month ago or so he'd be a solid pick at #5.
Lindholm and Seider were unexpected picks at #6 and look how that turned out.
So if the Habs were picking #6 in 2012 and 2019, they'd have gone nuts over Lindholm and Seider ?

That said I’m guessing most of the seriously disgusting stuff is on Twitter which is par for the course on that platform , not a good indicator for anything, and should be ignored completely.
What makes this site any better than Twitter? The swear filter? Cause that's about it for noticeable differences outside of the obvious like interface, etc.

Who cares. People are morons on the internet. Shocking I know. Kid just needs to chanel his inner beast and show the fans what he is made of. If this caused him any mental distress, he would not be able to play in a market like Montreal anyway. Good riddance. Management brought in another mentally weak kid. If that were to be the case, which I don't believe it is.

So they're upset because they chose an Austrian over a....Russian?
you might want to rethink your favouritism hypothesis...
or study a map

something something French-Canadian players. not this time hater

You might want to go back and look at the number of posters and hockey experts who got their balls in an uproar over the Seider pick

After Bedard it was the most unsurprising pick of the draft, to everyone but Habs fans it seems.

In that scenario, I’m sure there’s a noticeable difference.

People in here are fan enough to post on a forum dedicated to hockey. People who thrashed the pick (and the player) are a lot more likely to be casual fans who never heard of the guy before and knew Mitchkov’s name because of mainstream medias. You’ll likely find a lot more of those on Twitter and Facebook.

Sure, but when you read those mock drafts, they were largely qualified by saying it's probably a reach of a pick because team's value the position more than anything.
