Watch him go right back to Puttsburgh.
He could and would not be surprised they still have cap room. Few teams that will have cap room as well but depends on if he as interest in playing there.

Man if the Leafs has an ounce of creativity they'd move off Marner for some assets and sign Guentzal to 9.5 x 7

Of course this hinges on Guentzal liking Toronto as a destination
Ship out Tavares too. Give Guentzel the C and hope he can teach Matthews and Nylander how not to be losers

I would be fine with the Wild unloading MarJo and Freddie for salary cap space and then trading a mid pick for Guentzels rights. We have as good a shot as anyone to sign him - he grew up here afterall. Come on home Jake.

If he wants to that's possibility and or Pittsburgh etc.. Depends on contract length and $ along with where he like to end up playing for.

You right, I guess I don't know the market yet. Is 30-40 goal scorers worth 9M+ now?
I could potentially see the money getting that low (would assume $9.5 is what Guentzel will aim for)

But my head would explode if he signed for 3 years. Something that is a near 0% chance of happening.

Chicago makes the most sense. Canes have to many players to sign to give Jake that kind of contract.

If trading for a player’s rights doesn’t bring the 8th year then what’s the point of wasting the pick. Just wait for July 1.

Get the early start especially let’s say for a bad team like the hawks or sharks
Sure but why would the player not wait until July 1 even if the team that traded for him made a big offer? That offer would still be there on July 1. It would need to be a club (city) he really wants to play and live for it to work out.

No clue. Maybe a contract in hand before July 1st takes their mind off of things.
