did he also said he is willing to take a massive pay cut?You didnt hear? Geuntzel already bought a house in West Vancouver next to Marion Gaborik's
I think he's been a shade more timid down low and in front since getting taken down and driven into the boards shoulder first, but agreed his value is between his ears more than any physical trait. Should age like wine.Guentzel is a Pavelski type. He has no natural skills so I don't see why his aging curve would have any issues.
Buying out Mikheyev saves 4 million. And how do they do that? Saying "get creative", "fit them in", etc. isn't a real solution or idea. That's just wishful thinking. Again, how do you re-sign Hronek, Zadorov, Lindholm AND sign Guentzel for their reported asking price?
And no, "trade Mikheyev" doesn't cut it for an answer.
If i were Guntzel, id be looking at playing with a contender for a couple chances at a cup run. Not a 8 year contract with a lesser team....
Debrusk is only two years younger than Guentzel and won’t have half the impact that a guy the caliber of Guentzel will have playing with Bedard. I would almost guarantee Guentzel will continue to be a higher caliber player than Debrusk for pretty much the entire remainder of their careers.I really don’t understand Guentzel being connected to Chicago.
They’re going to have of Jones and Gunetzel on the cap sheet, while the rest of their core is in their prime?
Keep it short with the older UFAs.
Acquire and/or sign younger guys for long-term (Debrusk makes sense)
Ah yes the Vegas cap strat. Bloodclots or something could work wonders for us.The Canucks have cap space and just 3 Dman under contract. Mikheyev and his $4.75 million cap space will likely be traded.
And Vegas has shown that there is no such thing as "salary cap".
Like it did with edmonton? There's so much more than one or two players. It's a huge supporting cast and a bunch of luck. Like your opponent on their 3rd string goalie and no 1RW.Debrusk is only two years younger than Guentzel and won’t have half the impact that a guy the caliber of Guentzel will have playing with Bedard. Your window can open quickly with a guy like Bedard. The plan should not be to have a generational player and then not surround him with the best talent you can. Guentzel could elevate Bedard to another level this season and the Hawks could be very competative within a couple of years…well within the timeframe the Jake should still be a first line player.
I thought that the 8th year was only possible if the player was on the team at the trade dateline.
I am curious what pick they may get. Maybe a 5th or 6th for that 8th year.
I have read a few people thinking chicago may throw a lot at him.
That is true. It would require a sign and trade to get 8 years for another teamI thought that the 8th year was only possible if the player was on the team at the trade dateline.
But I might be wrong...
I don't know if Guentzel would be for this, but seems like a good opportunity for a 3x8.5M overpay contract or something. Trade him at the deadline in a few years for assets. As a Hawks fan, I'd rather they not throw a bunch of money at him. We are nowhere close to being competitive again and hes going to be 30 when next season starts. No thanks.

Second thought, Guentzel probably wants 6/7 years
27m in cap space could go up if they trade mikeyhev and poolmans deadcap spaceCanucks need a top line winger and have around 27M in CAP space. There's a lot of roster to fill up but Guentzel at 10.5M is definitely a road they can go down.

With Mikheyev gone they have 31 million in cap. Lindholm and a winger for EP has to be top priority.I don't think this involves Vancouver at all. We don't have a lot of picks or any cap space .
Ok? That doesn’t mean you sit on your hands and don’t do everything possible to create a supportive environment for your young superstar. I didn’t say they’d be Cup contenders by year two or three, but they could definitely be competitive.Like it did with edmonton? There's so much more than one or two players. I really don't see how Vegas would be able to afford him if he's looking for 9+ mil per.Wouldn't be surprised if this is Vegas. They may want to upgrade RW1, but still be able to circle back to Marchessault last minute.
