A lot will depend on the next couple of weeks leading up to the trade deadline. If we are buying could the Storm get a guy like Gabe Vilardi for a few draft picks given his injury history. It might be the type of buy low with a high ceiling move they will need.

As for the team as a whole and looking forward. I cannot stomach the thought of them be a bottom team next year, so quickly. The management of their roster has been incredibly bad. This team cannot afford to move out any more players off it's roster and needs to acquire a couple that will be around for more than this year. A pretty steep ask!!!!

The one question that I keep asking myself is; If there were these problems behind the scenes with the players that were traded could they have been traded sooner before players demanded trades (diminishing their value). Could Burnett have played the younger players more to increases their value.

We can add all the forwards we want but it will not help the run. We need Defence in a big way. Without this change we will not go any further than 2 rounds.

Bertuzzi’s lack of productivity & NTC was probably very difficult to move, I’m sure. Merkley & Primeau got very fair returns, imo.

I don’t really see why you’d be so concerned about a long rebuild. There will ‘99s to trade in the off season; and (not counting the Merkley conditions or undrafted Lalonde condition), the storm have the same # of 1-4 picks as London & Ottawa counting conditional picks.
So the storm are missing a couple of high picked ‘01s, NHL scouts consider the Ontario group to be the weakest in years

With (01) Aguanno 23-1-10-11 being traded earlier in the year to Kingston for “future considerations “, would that give Burnett any advantage in acquiring Villardi, Brahaney or Neumann?

My concern comes from the point of view that I sat in the stands for the years that they finished last and second last overall. At the time it was the price that was paid for a Memorial Cup run and some mismanagement of assets the following season. Regardless of draft picks that they have I would like the to stay competitive next season and not drop back to the bottom of the standings.

Depending what you consider competitive (home ice for playoff?), that might be a lot to ask for, for next season.
London should be on top for a couple of seasons. Flint & Saginaw have been building for longer than Guelph did. Erie has been near bottom for a couple of seasons. Windsor has been in serious selling/re-load mode for two years, Kitchener is ok ... I think Guelph is a good position to retool quickly, but face it; in London’s division, you have to take a shot when you got it, then re-load for your next turn.

Still convinced .. that if the merk was moved up to fwrd.. long ago and 1-2 shut down D brought in... this would be a quick run to the OHL championship.... but then what would you do with a kids with at least a BIT of Gretzky smarts up front eh?..but alors!.. this whole process was carved in stone for or by idiots ....IMO!.. hope they don'y further the whole BS scenario by falling out in 2 rounds by selling the farm on a gamble that renders the next 3-4 years totally bankrupt... may this otherwise once again: be a very SPECIAL Christmas to you all..YOU TOO MERK!

If it’s just one, hopefully a better than just solid D like Keane. I’d call Gordeev & Brahaney a solid pairing that could be used as OA or traded in off season to recoup picks.

I think the two Dmen you mentioned should be guys we should target. And as some mentioned subsequently, Kingston owes us “future considerations”, so I think we should cash in our chips.

Then, we need to upgrade our OA forward position, but I don’t want to trade anymore young players or empty the cupboards of valuable draft picks and become a bad team for the next 3 years.

Hi friends. Hope you had a nice Christmas/Holiday break.

Boys are back at it tonight. Would be nice to start the unofficial second half with a W.

Bet you thought this post might be trade news?!?!? Sorry to disappoint!

You're welcome.

The news is welcome - thank you! As for the information in the tweet...I can only imagine the scorched earth that will remain after a deal like that. No. Thank. You.

Trade #19 to London for Evangelista/Perrott and Picks. Maybe get them to throw a youngish D in there instead of one of the picks. I don't know that he solves any of London's issues, but it would make me happy and isn't that what matters??

We aren't selling. I think this should have made it pretty obvious.

makes the Hawel line howl..maybe even awaken the toropchenko scoring touch... he (Gogolev and Chayka are perfect match..in sinc.. a g0ood move in getting GOGO by mgmt... must admit it.
It is really nice to see the Storm play together and looking happy without smurky Merky. Young d-men are now stepping up for Guelph. Gogo fitting in perfectly! It was the best trade ever! Good luck in Hamilton tonight.

Mark Hunter here in Hamilton to watch the game. Have to assume he’s scouting the Bulldogs for some deadline help, my guess is either Strome or Saigeon.
