Minor point, but the Canucks have said absolutely nothing about a possible timeframe for Miller's return. All there has been is speculation.
I think Allvin stated that in a between periods interview.

You have to watch the Andy Strickland video yourself to decide for yourself, yesterday's clip on X

Now Dahli says Andy Strickland stated the Canucks sent Miller home because he is, to paraphrase Strickland, "almost abusive in the room or between periods".
Actually Strickland didn't say that was what happened at all, it was his speculation but it would fit with any return date, but the team did post indefinite leave.
Strickland also stated the NHLPA has not been involved removing any substance issues. Also Miller would not hesitate to, paraphrased, stand up for himself even against Tocchet.

I have doubts about that though, the Canucks didn't appear prepared for Miller's absence.

Donny also said on the show, that IF Miller had requested a trade he would become a "distressed asset" lowering his trade value. That would make sense for the Canucks to put the reason for the absence on Miller. Nothing they have said refutes a trade request.

Elliot Friedman first suggested the December 3rd date but I think Allvin did say the same,
December 6 is the first game after that date.

Hockey USA will list Miller on their team making it appear they know something or they list him now and if he can't play they replace him but he is on the roster that way.

Hronek and Miller information from the Canucks is a black hole.

Speculation again, if there is a date is the timeline more to do with gaining cap space? As the season rolls on JT's cap hit goes down and space gained if under the max.

Miller for Barzal

Sure, and I'll go back to my home country of Norway and declare myself the Tsar of Russia.

VAN has way more leverage in a Miller discussion than they did when he was a rental UFA.

He hadn't shown what he had under Tocchet. At the time, he was a 1LW who wasn't defensively interested enough to be a C on a winning team.

Miller signed his extension coming off a 99 point season as a C. Since then he has been signed to a reasonable cap hit and he continues to produce offensively as a C while shoring up his defensive play like you said. So ya I do agree that we have more leverage.

It's pretty common for veterans the ilk of Miller to stand up to the HC. Now usually that happens in instances where the HC is being a bit unfair and or abusive.

I hate to say it, but this sort of tracks. Maybe his personal leave has to do with going to therapy for anger management. Might have been a blow up in the locker room or (heaven forbid) outside of hockey that prompted him to take time to seek help.

He did not. Sometime after the road trip is the only general timeframe.

I don't mind letting Miller take his time to do...whatever is it that he's gotta do.

Demko's situation is starting to annoy me, not the situation itself but how media kept saying he's returning soon, SOON!!! Frankly it's starting to feel rather obnoxious.

"Sometime after the road trip" made sense because why join during the road trip. It's a good ballpark. Essentially "take your time to cool off and let's talk after the team is back from the road trip."

Let me add my share of speculation: I think there's was a blow out after the benching in the third period. It was either a hot one (some things were said) or a cold one ("sorry guys but I'm done with hockey after this, I don't care, I'm done"). It was then decided there was no point in trying to resolve it and some time apart was needed. We will see if the time apart helped.

For a Hoglander trade, players that I think could be had in a relatively simple trade are Dvorak and Greenway. Dvorak played for Tocchet in Arizona and Greenway would be a reclamation project that we put through the Dakota Joshua program.

Trading JT? Nightmare situation for the team, management and fan base.

Carolina? Nikishin, Jarvis and a pick?

Buffalo? Cozens, Power an a pick?

SJ? Will Smith and a pick?

Hawks? For Nazar and Levshunov?

Also, are you sure you mean Andy Strickland? Donnie and Dhali haven't had him on the show in a very long time.

i think they're talking about strickland's podcast with cam janssen. i listened and there's no reporting. they're just talking about miller's poor reputation around the league (for not getting along with teammates and coaches) and speculating that the absence was team initiated because of the silence around it. it starts here

He wasn’t on the show but they played a clip of Strickland from his own show.

Thanks for the link. I listened and it's two guys that are upset that the reason for why he's out isn't public.

No. It's $2.39M. Which is what I said. You've pulled $2.52 out of nowhere for some reason.

Some team may still turn around and offer something decent for him. But what I'm arguing, and what you've conceded, is that the contract extension is a negative weighing his value down.

Also, the rumours of the teams calling on him are from three GMs, reportedly. Two of which I rate pretty poorly as GMs.

Vector's argument once again is the most persuasive: Some GMs are just irrational. Whatever you and VanillaCoke are trying to argue has way less evidence behind it.
As far as I'm aware, there were nothing concrete aside from the team's being "interested". For all we know, Columbus could be interested only if they send back say Gudbranson, or the other 2 teams sending back cap dumps. Nothing from their interest implies positive or significant trade value for Hoglander.

But yea, if we trade him now we are not selling high, and even if he is at peak level, his type of players aren't generally worth a lot on the trade market. Hope Allvin pulls off a miracle but I'm not super excited just because some teams are rumored to be interested.

No one knows why JT Miller isn't with the team, and we shouldn't really speculate much. But that also means we shouldn't speculate by ruling out reasons why he's not with the team, or concluding that this issue couldn't lead to a trade, or whatever. Unfortunately, we have no idea what has happened or what's going on with Miller. But I definitely wouldn't speculate that there isn't an issue, or that he won't be traded, especially given the fact that he took his leave of absence after being benched in the third period and the coach making comments implying he was playing poorly.

Waaaaay over there
I could envision a scenario where the Blue Jackets are willing to pay a big price to bring in a star forward after what happened with Gaudreau. Miller might be a rare star player that would actually wnat to be there given his family connection to the state. It's hard to see how this would benefit Vancouver in the short term but if CBJ is desperate I bet they could put together a pretty nice package.
