Grub's Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, and & Fantasy GM | Roll with the Changes

This is 100% true and not even a bit of exaggeration but I think all this Miller & Pettersson stuff has given me a massive headache. I know I have a headache. It's been ongoing for about a week now. But it is getting worse. The only thing that's changed is these rumours, updates, and sidebars have become non-stop.
Don’t let it bother you so much. Miller and JT don’t care about any of us.

It’s just hockey.

Oh, that I'm fully aware of and tell people myself. Like, I have no anxiety over any of it. I'm fine with all the possible outcomes. It's just that this is the only change since last week and that's when this headache started.

Take a break. I’ll be a mod in your absence.

I have a hyperactive thyroid, use to drink wayyyy too much coffee, smoked, and so naturally I dry out quick like a motherf***er and get these massive f***ing come ons that last 4-6 hours and then go away.

Kids, take your health seriously. You don’t have to be like me. Hope it goes away soon for ya. They are f***ing brutal.

Petey + for Thompson and Byram. Kind of a pipe dream depending on the plus. Byram I think the injury concerns are somewhat alleviated as he has basically been healthy for a season and a half and is logging a lot of minutes this year. He just fits what this team needs like very few players in the NHL and I think he might be the only one that is reasonable available.

Here’s how I look at a move with Buffalo, you are trading a franchise 1C.

So you don’t make the deal unless you can get back a franchise player or something with that potential.

Byram is good, I like him but he’s a solid 2nd pairing guy. Cozens is a 2C who I also like. Even in the aggregate it doesn’t matter, you need game breaking ability which neither possess.

So then you look at prospects/picks and does anyone/thing have that potential? For me, the only thing that peaks my interest is an unprotected 1st round pick. Maybe you get a Hagens type.

Best player in the deal is Petey, but would this make a lot of Buffalo fans uncomfortable? Yes. That’s how you know it’s fair.

I frequently get eye-strain migraines. Can knock me out for a whole day. This isn't related to those. Manageable but not feeling so hot right now.

Luckily, I've always limited my vices. Don't drink coffee or energy drinks and have never smoked.

It'd be reliant on where that 1st round picks ends up landing - elite 1st line centers are hard to come by in this league, and you should only really move on from Pettersson if you're sure he won't bounce back (He almost 100% will) - teams without a 1st line center go years and years without getting one, and here are the buffoons running this franchise giving one away for a 'meh' sum of parts.

This has a very high likelihood of blowing up in Allvin/Rutherford's face.

This is a really good point. They better be damn sure he won't bounce back. If he does this could be a fireable offense.

It's not that simple though it's whether or not you believe the player can bounce back and be what he needs to be here or not. If it's not then really if he happens to play better elsewhere so be it

If they keep the same core and fall flat again—they are likely getting fired either way.

For their own self-preservation they are probably better off saying “this isn’t my core, let me reset/rebuild” than doubling down on something that isn’t working.

It's borderline stupidity to suggest Pettersson can't bounce back here, we aren't talking about someone on the wrong side of 30 - he had 89 points in this exact same environment literally last season, he's 26, how about we all collectively use some brain cells here and realize this is a player who didn't get a chance to train the way he normally he does in the offseasondue to knee tendinitis and probably deserves the benefit of the doubt?

You're replying as if I said something that I didn't say

Only way I would prefer trading Pettersson over Miller is if it's a larger deal that gets us Barzal and Dobson. Islanders have to re-sign Dobson at the end of the year and may not want to commit bit money/term to him.
