All the trade reports during that first 9 months. If the Horvat negotiations hadn't broken down Miller wouldn't be here IMHO. Now, they are considering moving Petterson just as they moved Horvat because they couldn't get their primary sale asset to sell.
Management are making one heck of a mess of this. Shades of they handling of Bruce.

I’m actually a big fan of Cozens and think he’s a tantalizing player with a lot more to offer - but Petey has shown a high end he hasn’t even scraped the bottom of. I would also hope for a lot more coming in return, but in this league, who the hell knows.
I’ve said it for a while, we’re likely to lose a Petey or a Miller trade as we will be giving up the best player.

the one thing ill say is that i dont think the decisions were ever just miller vs x or y.
i think in both situations, theyd have moved both if the offers were right. the threshold for miller offer was probably higher before given all the bs around it now. i think independently it was pretty fair to worry about that horvat contract and how he’d age as a player. it was a high end offensive 2c vs a guy who was a 1LW at the time, and ended up being a guy who played like a 1c and ate mcdavid up a few times.
i think here, they pretty clearly want to move both guys.
If you get all hot and bothered when Pettersson is underperforming you are going to be driven absolutely mental by Tage Thompson and his defensive gaffes, injuries, and lack of physical play.

Getting him off the roster is a grand slam from Allvin. Can you imagine he played like this for 8 years?
I wouldn’t care if EP made 7 M. It’s the CAP and the play that drive me nuts. 11.6M is for an absolute game breaker

Not sure what choice there really is. It's been self-inflicted by the players performing so terribly this year. We can't just ride it out and hope Miller calms down and that Pettersson somehow learns how to play in the offensive zone again. I know we like to harp on the lack of puck moving on the backend, but with the players we have, we should at least comfortably be in a wild card spot right now. Pettersson pacing for ~50 points is unacceptable, Miller looking like he's checked out and playing with his controller disconnected is unacceptable. There's been far too many nights where the team has come out completely flat and looking like an unserious hockey team, even before these rumors started materializing.

I'm going to be just livid if we deal Petey. that would be some serious 'time is a flat circle' shit with Neely.
Cozens who lacks dynamism or hockey sense and sucks defensively, and byram who is two concussions away from retiring would be a trade that history would laugh at.
I know how frustrating it is watching Petey, he looks meek and terrible. But the whole team is f***ed psychologically right now.
If you trade him at the nadir of his value ot appease Miller for a month before trading him....man, it would be hard to stay as engaged as I have been the last 30 years.

Trading Pettersson is the straw that breaks the back for me personally, can't bother supporting a team that keeps on shooting itself in the foot then will be shamelessly be calling about how they plan on upping season ticket package prices for the year.

This is 100% true and not even a bit of exaggeration but I think all this Miller & Pettersson stuff has given me a massive headache. I know I have a headache. It's been ongoing for about a week now. But it is getting worse. The only thing that's changed is these rumours, updates, and sidebars have become non-stop.
