Grub's Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, and & Fantasy GM | Roll with the Changes

I think the amount of weight that we put on players being friends with each other (or not) is way overblown.

It means practically zero to roster construction. Players are professionals and care more about winning.
Let me add to this point—I love my friends but I could not imagine working with any of those f***s at my job. I want the people who help do my job with the least amount of effort.

just because they trained in the summer doesn’t make them “best friends” they might be but I’ve never heard that. I know tkachuk is actually his best friend
Hughes is the godfather of Garland's kid so they're quite close. I don't know how much a factor that would actually have on Hughes happiness with the team, but Garland would be one of the last guys I'd want to trade right now anyway. One of the only ones who gives 100% effort most nights.

Management soured on Miller a month after they got here and have been trying to trade him every year since. They just aren't very good at it.
First time I've heard that. They were the ones who extended Miller when they could have easily traded him for a better return than they'll get now.

His value was always going to decline once extended because of his age, and the dollars and term.

I don't agree that Friedman is some insider. HIm and Lebrun. Lebrun said "he's got Info that they were interested in either Miller or Petterson and went with Rantenen?

so this the Necas ,Rantenan trade goes unreported by everyone and suddenly everyone had info from before? F IN B.S.

I have no real problem tearing the team apart as long as the returns are worth it. If you can do it now, get the wheels in motion, use the rest of the season to teach a system while integrating new players, then add in the off-season, maybe that creates a scenario like last season.

As has been said before, would really be threading the needle.

Buffalo has some interesting pieces, Byram would be a good fit on our 2nd pairing and their first is a valuable asset to flip. Trading Pettersson is a huge risk though.

They extended him because they couldn't trade him. They tried at the deadline and they tried at the draft and they tried during UFA. They kept trying to move him all the way into September before they have up and signed him. It was pretty clear he was the guy they wanted moved out of the core.

Would have to think Byram would be at the center of talks, and Cozens has been rumored before, too.

Like I said, first I've heard it that way. Sources?

it's really hard to find the source retroactively but keep in mind he was held out of a game right at the tdl when they were rumoured to be in talks with pittsburgh and then there were also the nyr schneider rumours when they were only offering lundqvist

i think they did somewhat grow more fond of him as well but they definitely wanted to move him early on
