Grub's Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, and & Fantasy GM | Roll with the Changes

Yes, I expect he'll still be moved, probably in the summer. But I do think if they trade Pettersson, they will have some optionality on the Miller trade, and may in the interim change messaging a bit to see if they can move away from vulture offers from the Rangers.
There are some reasons to not move Miller (at least in the short-term).

I'm just saying that thinking Miller is ever gonna change his behaviour is naive. This is who he is and who he has been his whole career.

Oh, yeah. They totally should have gone harder in both 2011 and 2012 and traded more future draft picks and more prospects, paid to get rid of Ballard to open up cap space for better additions, etc.

I think you meant Carter instead of Perry in 2012 which is what confused me.

Interesting you bring up Carter. Seems like we’re gonna go for the Philly 2011 special. I didn’t mind the return they got for either guy, but it did make them a worse team also.

Wonder when mgmt will come out and face the music?

And no. I don’t count Allvin coming out the other day and “talking to the media” as them facing the music.

And Rutherford used to come out and talk all the time. Crickets for awhile.

It just looks bad all around.

I guess they figured they could keep there mouth shut till a trade happened.

Well nothing has been done so it makes it worse and worse.

I expected more TBH.

Why is it taking Gillis so long to trade Luongo and Kesler? Maybe we should fire him and bring another GM in.

Is Gillis not highly regarded around here? I thought he was one of the best GMs and was limited by a meddling owner.

I had very high regards for Alvin and JR, except for the Boudreau Fiasco™, handling of the personal leave and inconsistencies in messaging, and the crappy defence this offseason.

Lately, it’s very concerning how it seems we’re taking a massive loss on either of our top six Cs. If we can’t get an impact player in exchange for Pettersson and the season is a wash, I wouldn’t take the bait from any of these terrible trade offers.

I keep wondering if their shopping of Pettersson is just more “feet to the fire”, or legitimate trade plans.

Mgmt already looks terrible for the following:

1. Going into the season with this defense
2. Publicly humiliating JT/EP as a "motivational tactic" to the point where now JT is good as gone for peanuts
3. Speaking of motivational tactics, they asked JT to get on EP to motivate him, literally the dumbest fking idea to anyone whose been following this team for awhile
4. Going into the season with this defense
5. Deliberately putting all of the media attention on the forwards and the core when the defense is completely rotten and helpless

I'm not saying fire them quite yet but I'm getting close. The above list is an irrefutable trainwreck of decisions and they'd be my frontrunners for the James Elmer Benning "worst GM of the year" award this year.
This.

So disheartened with the current situation. Injuries aside, so much of this shit has been self-inflicted. But I'm still hoping this management group can get this rectified, and it has to start with Miller's departure, for the sake of "the room".

For the most part, he is.

To the point where I started wondering about his return this morning lol

Petterson fan boys shocked that even the management has soured on him.

People have been villainizing JT for months just to find out the management is just as sick of EP 40’s antics.

Amazing to see. Lmao

Management soured on Miller a month after they got here and have been trying to trade him every year since. They just aren't very good at it.

His early moneyball moves were fantastic but he did get very fortunate that Sundin turned down a 2 year contract.

Somewhere around 2012...he got too over confident. He felt he could hit on the many low risk signings and trades rather than making a larger impact move. Gillis has even admitted he could have done more to fortify that 2011-2012 team and prolong the window.
