Why would it be called? His foot was on the ice, body to body contact

It is truly amazing that cognitive dissonance can disqualify someone from believing the truth, especially when it stares you in the face in the form of video evidence. blatant hit to the head. think about how you would feel if that was forsling on marner....jeez

that's a ******* clean hit boy! woo good on Marner, kind of leaned/jumped into him.. but wtf the guy wanted to make an impact, he's smallish. Looks good to me, Swedish player didn't complain at all after the hit was made so take that as you will. + Swedish player literally lost the puck like a millisecond earlier, can't expect Marner to change his initial reaction that quickly.

Yes because TSN controls IIHF suspensions.

TSN butters their bread. There's no way that Swiss guy gets three games if it wasn't the Toronto golden boy.

Objectively, this is a far more blatant example of targeting the head

If you slow that Marner hit down, you can see his elbow hits that guys chest first. It is definitely a two minute charging penalty but I don't think it's a headshot, especially not a blindside hit like the one against Nylander.

Hehe, it's a human nature. Most people believe only what they want to believe.

That hit would never get a suspension in the NHL, happens all the time. Now at wjc it might be a bit different, we will have to see. Again the direction of the hit makes a large difference on the play. Marner came from the direction the player was going and made contact with the entire body. It is the hits from the blind side that hit almost entirely the head that has been so devastating to players.

Don't blame you, a lot of brutal hits to the head out there and at times seemingly little to no respect for the opposing players.

Right. This could be OK for pro leagues like NHL, but not for junior leagues. Kids brains still grow and develop and such hits make irreversible damage to them.

The hell are you talking about? That's a shoulder to the face, no way that's a clean hit.

Is it a charging penalty if Marner is basically standing still and the Swede runs right into him?

Marner leaves his feet there, if he didn't I would call it a good hit even with the head contact, but the IIHF is typically hard on any head contact.

I hope the same people who were leading the witch hunt against the Swiss player and calling for a tournament ban will be equally as vigorous here.

Marner literally jumped into the guy's head... His feet are like a foot off the ground. How the hell are you defending this? If Marner were the recipient of this hit you'd be crying bloody murder.

It's a matter of perspective. You can also look at it and see Marner standing virtually still, then turn his shoulder into the incoming Swede, and then the Swede lifts the 150 pound Marner off his feet on impact.

Who said he was a superstar? He's a very good player who needs to add strength and needs maturing. This kid gets more flack than Strome, it's ridiculous.

The whole team ain't meshing, perhaps the bigger ice surface is screwing their game. Or maybe, just maybe, other teams are that much better. I knew Swedes would dominate with returning players.

He gets more flack than Strome because Strome has been better throughout the tournament. Marner was better today, though. Even TSN was saying Strome has been Canada's best player and they love pumping up Marner.

Secondly, he should be getting more flack on HF because of what we were told by Leaf fans about him. Far and away the best player in the OHL. Future P. Kane. May challenge Eichel in the future (not happening). That he carries players like Dvo and Tkachuk (absolutely laughable).

You can't pump him up as the best player not in the NHL (people really have said that, which he clearly isn't) and then be surprised when people throw it in your face that the above mentioned accolades are laughably incorrect.

You can't build someone up to be something they aren't, then get upset when people point out that he isn't.
