I think they should ban TSN and all media form the CAN players, i think that also plays a huge part.

Strome needs to skate harder and use his body more. He should not be out on a 4 on 4

Marner had a good game..

I think they need to be on the same line. strome and Marner each need linemate with higher hockey IQs.

100% agree. As much as I apprecaite TSN showing all the games some of the interviews and questions asked are absolutely stupid.

So is it (mostly) Canadian fans on HF arguing about the Marner hit? Checking out the Swedish news outlets, blogs and twitter, there is not even a mention of it. I don't even see any Swedish posters here taking part in the 'discussion' Nobody got hurt, Marner didn't even get a penalty. Move on people.

Also, it would be typical of Sweden to lose to the Slovaks because everyone assumes they'll win. Sweden is not good at going into a game favourites.

Eh, don't know about a suspension but with the way he pops up I could definitely see a charging penalty/ ejection.

Outside of that, clean it though. Indemnified from the head contact because it was a head on collision with the recipient crouched/ leaning forward.

I have been as hard as anybody in marner,

but let's not ****ing kid ourselves, Marner has elite talent, the guy with the puck and vision is elite, Sure he is having a bad tourney, but this is the type of player who passes the eye test considerably, and will be a great damn player in this league.

You could expect that it is the players from the 2014 and 2015 drafts that would dominate the tournament, but it is the players that will be drafted in the 2016 that is the best so far in the tournament. Is the 2016 so good, and maybe the others overrated, or is it a coincidence?

Wow .... Great thread.. should just rename it to Marner at the WJC 2016.

Team Canada would shock me if they won the game vs Finland.

Going back to the Swiss game.. I think that Lowry has been a problem with his lines, bench management and his go to guys he has gone back to over and over with little change in results.

Lets hope they give the Fins a game at least. They will have to be more disciplined and they will have to be up tempo for 3 periods.

Our top lines were much better last year.

He gets more flack than Strome because Strome has been better throughout the tournament. Marner was better today, though. Even TSN was saying Strome has been Canada's best player and they love pumping up Marner.

Secondly, he should be getting more flack on HF because of what we were told by Leaf fans about him. Far and away the best player in the OHL. Future P. Kane. May challenge Eichel in the future (not happening). That he carries players like Dvo and Tkachuk (absolutely laughable).

You can't pump him up as the best player not in the NHL (people really have said that, which he clearly isn't) and then be surprised when people throw it in your face that the above mentioned accolades are laughably incorrect.

You can't build someone up to be something they aren't, then get upset when people point out that he isn't.

Scouts pumped him up, first and foremost, one of the same guys, not a leafs fans, is where you are getting the challenge Eichel one day in offense thing. If a couple Leafs fans parroted that then so be it, it's not like there is anything wrong with that... especially in the context of Coyotes fans coming into a Marner thread in order to start arguments and having a few scout quotes tossed back at you about the kid being GOAT.... Which he's earned on account he's a fantastic prospect.

I don't think anyone was building him up to be something he's not, I think he's exactly as advertised. Is he having a sub-par tourney? sure, just like Strome and everyone else on TC. Does that change his talent, his potential? Nope. Considering the TSN panel has talked about him being good, yet not playing up to his level, and that he's been one of TC best forwards overall, if he was on his game he'd be Lindros'ing everyone... he'd have a 1000 points already, have 14 shutouts, 1800 hits. He'd win both POTG each game. And you'd need to craft a canoe in order to float on your salty-tear pond to your computer in order to type out some shaky apology for being so silly... you don't want that, so Marner is doing you a favour by struggling, cuz now you get to think that just because your ignored it must mean people agree with you - otherwise you'd be called out so consistently you'd likely just slither away instead.

Oh, and Dvorak before the blowout had all of 1 point in the tourney and even team USA posters where saying he's been invisible. But then there was a blowout so he got some more points because someone helped him along, sorta like what Marner and Tkachuk does for him. :sarcasm: :naughty:

1- This Canadian team just isnt as good as recent teams
2- Lowry seems to be over his head and clueless
3- The TSN hype for this tournament has reached critical mass proportions, I miss the days of 08/09 when it was a level lower in terms of being prevalent and Pierre McGuire was there.
4- We cant generate any sustained pressure or forecheck, and create chances.
5- Defense is all over the place
6- Virtanen has been a huge disappointment

Just going to say that Sweden ran over Canada and was missing their best player and 1C, one of their best wingers, and a top dman....

We are going to get absolutely demolished by Finland if Lowry can't figure it out. What a piss poor excuse for a coach.

Just watched the game. Canada played poorly and deserved their fate today. Not enough energy or discipline to beat a good team like Sweden.
They'll need to stay out of the box and skate harder if they have any intention of advancing. I'd like to see the lines and d pairings remain the same the rest of the way, win or lose but stay with set lines for a change.
Not too confident in Blackwood after this game either, might be worth a goalie switch against Finland.

No more losses boys, run the table now. :handclap:

Lowry might as well stack the top six and just run them all game. Let Marner and Strome try and matchup against Laine and Puljujarvi and if they can't it's on them but at least you go down with your big guns.

Also more Konecny that kid is awesome

Congrats to the Swedes, clearly the better team.
The Marner hit as worthy of discipline as the hit to Nylander, .... neither incident was a penalty IMO.

Of course Canadian media aren't going to publicize and promote the illegal hit all over social media and their websites. They don't want Marner getting suspended.

Lol, you're kidding right? The media dont give a damn about the success of the team. They want a story. Thats all any media outlet wants.

Thats why they swarm around a young player who hasnt been performing well and start asking him question about what he's doing wrong and why have things gone so badly.
