It's going to be a tough game against the Finns but win or lose Lowry needs to figure out a way to get these kids to buy into his system. So far, he hasn't been able to. When a team doesn't buy into a system usually that leads to penalties because of frustration, being out of position, etc., and it leads to players not playing the way they need to play. The team has the players to maybe win this tournament but they need to play to their potential, even then they may not win. They also need to believe in their coach and that might be why they don't win it this year, right now they don't believe in Lowry.

what do we have like 10 first rounders on Canada and the sweedes have 2 or 3? its not the players..

Top picks mean nothing if each person is trying to win the game on their own.

Coaching needs to put together lines that work well together. Players need to focus on being a team.

But again, top picks don't mean a damn thing... look at the oilers.

Yeah, he definitely jumped into it. And head was principal point of contact, unlike in the hit that took Nylander out. I guess no injury no suspension.

Marner literally jumped into the guy's head... His feet are like a foot off the ground. How the hell are you defending this? If Marner were the recipient of this hit you'd be crying bloody murder.

IIHF are a joke if that is not a suspension, after giving Egli 3 games for staying low.

It's a joke if they don't suspend marner yes. Egli hit Nylander right in the head so I don't know what you're talking about.

Are they gonna review the hit or ? how does it works by the way ? should there be anyone filing the complaint and then the iihf discipline will start review it ?

If he get suspended I afraid Canada can says goodbye to Semifinal.

What we really should be discussing is why the hell of all players on this team that felt he needed to make a big hit to wake up the boys, it had to be a skill player of Marners stature.

Because Konecny's shoulders were getting tired of hitting everything in sight and the rest them are wussies?

I'm so used to Team Canada finishing every check on the ice and being ravenous on the forecheck. I realize the game is changing, but they curl off every check and generate zero pressure on the forecheck. I've never seen a team this soft in the WC before.

I have seen Canada play way less physical in many other games.

This Canadian team needs to learn how to score as fast as possible. You dont face Puljujarvi and Laine with a team that cant get more than 2 goals.

This.

Although, they did play very well in the second period of the Sweden game finishing checks. Really hope they play that way in the QF.

Finnish goalies and defense have been so terrible that there will probably be like 15 goals in the quarter final.

What are you whining about? That was the best classic body check of the year. Highlite hit. Too much complaining about hitting. Next the players will be wearing tutus.

I agree. I'd especially like to see Strome throw his big frame around

I see hts both being the same. Both Neutral zone hits that I do not believe were targeted to the head. Egli never left his feet, while Marner did. If he were taller and bigger, the Swedish player could have been hurt severely. But I believe the intent was a good clean hit by Marner. The only thing against him is he left his feet. Had the Swedish player not gotten up, Marner would be in the same position as Egli would be.

What I am talking about is that Egli's attempt at hitting a skater coming toward him was much more in line with IIHF rules:

vii. A skater who delivers a check to an opponent who is skating with the
puck with his head down in the direction of the skater, and does not
use an upward motion or drive his body up into the opponent, will not
be penalized for checking to the head or neck
.

Some are saying Marner's hit was OK because he still had one foot on the ice, but that is absurd as he clearly launched himself.
