I was 12 the last one.

Elation.

Few decades later, have seen some good teams, but never this much talent.

Probably the most talented team, but the results do not reflect that.
Most talented at the top, not sure about overall.

While they need to be way better defensively, in last nights case he's right.
It's going to be extremely difficult to beat a team like the Oilers when you have a 3rd string goalie and you only score 2.
Very true, although I will say that maybe not on the depth charts but career wise and reality wise it is Samsonov who is the 3rd string goalie and Jones the back up.

Yes, it is difficult to know how bad the defense is.

When the game plan is score more you know the game plan is not defend best.

They don't consistently play 60 minutes of intense, focused on the smaller details hockey.

1 period here, two periods there, 60 minutes sometimes after a losing streak but there is definitely not a consistency of hard work and sacrifice.

When they actually do play a full 60 minutes, their overall defence and goaltending doesn't look that bad.

You guys seem to forget that to fire a coach you need a guy to be ready to step in.

I know Boudreau is hanging around Toronto sniffing around and would take the job in a second if offered, but maybe Bruce isn't the guy they want. I like Gabby he's a fun guy and always has been!

Guy Boucher, not the right guy either, not because he's not a good coach, because he is a good coach, but because I don't think really he wants it.

The number of other guys that are unemployed, you'd think one or two of them would want the job, but I truly believe none of them do, otherwise they'd be doing guest shots in the Toronto media, those sort of getting to know you appearances, but none have been.

There's something that's not right in that room, I'm not saying I know, but I kind of have a feeling. Remember Shelly being trotted out in front of the press, the guy who is supposed to be in charge, well he ain't is he? I just can't see anybody out there who saw that and who is willing to damage their own reputation by coming here and maybe having to go through the same thing!

At the moment he's a number one but in reality he's a cast off 3rd stringer.

13 for me

I wouldn't say that, certainly maybe the most talented 4 at anytime, but all things being equal, overall I'd say the 62 - 67 teams, the 77-78 team and the 93-94 Leafs would chew these guys up and spit them out. Talented, tough and tenacious with more will than skill.

You are right. The BS that is going on with this team has to stop. I mean, the players are happy and smiling in the post game talking about how awesome they are playing and how great they are. This is turning out to be a real comedy show.

They are going to miss the playoffs.
And they will still talk about their god given talent and how unlucky they were etc...Marner will be asked if he will do anything differently in the off season and he will look puzzled and say "nope"

You could even look at the 2001 team. That was a different era, although not nearly as tough as the game was in the 60's or the insane brutality of the 70's, the 2001 Leafs team would be a nightmare for guys like Nylander and Marner.

Does any Leaf get pissed off after blowing another two goal lead for their fourth loss in a row. Marner after the game? “We're a great hockey team,” said Marner. “We have to ignore what everyone else says. We know we're a great hockey team. We show it every night. These last four games when we've had leads, we've played some awesome hockey.” Sounds to me like what a Dad says to his coddled son. No need to reach a higher level of play, tighten up in their own own zone, be harder on the forecheck because they think they’re such a great team. What planet are they on ?

What do you suggest he does differently?
Do any of the others need to do anything different?

I find it very "interesting" that folks here were criticizing Bert and Domi significantly but if we put things into context lets say 5 on 5

Domi (20) has 2 less 5v5 points than Nylander (22)
and
Bert with 1 less than Tavares (16)

How about splitting up the PP and making Domi/Bert important role players that have the confidence of the team and give them a bit of boost by showing they are part of the team

or how about putting three amigos on three different lines or at least three 11 AAV players (matthews, marner, tavares) on three different lines?

???

This is one of the primary reasons why we are "not" a team but a bunch of individuals.

He looks devasted.

Hard for me to come to grips with that, since I have been, like many of you, waiting impatiently for a cup win in my lifetime.

It is the reality though. So...

Not a wagon.

Not a serious team.

But fun! Sometimes.
Sadly, It is what it is,,

You know how sad it is ??

If you said a diehard Leaf fan should only watch games where the Leafs win in regulation 60 minutes time, and only against teams that were in the top 16 (1/2 the league) ie. playoff teams at mid season rankings, then you would only have watched these 5 games of 42 games played these year.,

These are the only 5 games that qualify.

Otherwise just enjoy the entertainment, as they find new creative ways to lose.

How bout I need to work on my shot for instance...get stronger etc...anything but we did good but were unlucky. A little Mckinnon energy would be nice...get pissed off and let everyone know you are coming back with a vengance and then actually do whatever it takes to get there.....as an example.

You don't believe he works on any of those things? He actually spends a lot of time with McKinnon.

What do you think he does in the off season?

The team has taken on the persona of Keefe and are just full of excuses with zero accountability.
Good job Treliving for extending Keefe 🤦‍♂️ now fix your mistake and hire Berube.
Actually is feeling like its taking on the personality of post playing days Shanny. Imagine this team made in the mold of playing days Shanny...wed be the bruins.

Feels like your being a bit obtuse but Ill bite....Mckinnon took/takes responsibility as the great ones do, Marner doesnt.

Never. There are never any bitterness. Always a lesson to learn. A silver lining. Roses and sunshine
