Tavares last 5 games. 4 points in his last 10. Painful to watch unless he is playing to get Keefe fired.

Marner is out of touch but the scariest thing said this year was from Nylander in the 6-5 OT loss to Columbus.
We know we can score 5 he said.
That is completely the wrong attitude and why you have 1 win in 7 playoff tries.
These attitudes add up. The inconsistency, compete, starting on time, attention to detail, finishing strong, being prepared. 10 years later and it’s still a theme?
That not wait for age, that’s built in the core.
Style’s got his payday, no needs to be elite when your paid elite……..

Knies got cross checked from behind and Nylander and someone (I think it was Tavares) else just skated away not giving a single f.
The broadcast went on to talk about how tough that player is for doing so (I think it was Bouchard) and it was just downright embarrassing to watch that sequence 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

This team in a nutshell.

Everyone turns in to prime Lucic when they play us.

The team has taken on the persona of Keefe and are just full of excuses with zero accountability.
Good job Treliving for extending Keefe 🤦‍♂️ now fix your mistake and hire Berube.

worth reading through this thread, jubilant contributions from plenty of the people currently dancing on this team's grave
Imo, objectively calling it like it is isn’t shitting on the team, it’s being honest about the state of things, but I understand why you would say this, I’ve been calling it like it is for years because the teams has had big problems for years. When or if these problems are addressed I’ll be more positive, until then you do you, and I’ll do me………

Domi has been super disapointing to me. He doesn't think the game at all
I thought he would have more zest in his game. There's nothing there I like so far
he's played 90% of his career on bottom feeder / tank teams, and he is basically the player Marner's biggest haters imagine Marner to be

If it wasn't for Jones, that game would have been out of hands 2nd period. We were 90% hemmed in
insane save the far side shot by McD off the rush at 2-2 in the 3rd too. you could tell Jones has faced him plenty.

He wasn't that great for Detroit or Boston either. People just got fooled by some small sample point totals, without really looking into how those inflated totals came to be, his 11 goal 40-point pace with Detroit last season, or how he actually performed overall.
He played well for Boston with Pastrnak & I was shocked he never stayed knowing who he was going to be playing with.Pasta shoots right which aligns perfect with his passing game but he choose you guys. That tip off post early in game last night should have went but hey it was him in dirty area getting hit in face for it not another player so credit he has guts to go there cause lots avoid it or do drivebys.

I just mean the constant call-outs of this poster for the crime of liking the Leafs and thinking that they will be successful, from the doomers who are wrong a lot also

Marner was right, they played about as good as they can. The problems today are the same problems they had against TB and Florida last year, their roster is incomplete and they lack the required skill and talent.

You can’t go into the season hoping that all of the 5 or 6 unanswered/unknowns pan out.
coaching
top pair D
middle pair D
two top 6 wingers
bottom 6
goaltending.

When Foegle rag dolled Tavares from inside the net, you knew what the response was going to be for rest of the game
I know John Tavares takes a lot of flank, rightfully so. But he's our captain

John Tavares, you know that dude who won the a WJC gold medal single handily. A olympic gold medalist
Represented Canada in so many tournies, won us so many tournies

That John Tavares was rag dolled by Foegle and did nothing.

Yeah, we are not that team.

Ah, well I like his positivity, but he’s a homer, a Evilhomer, not that there’s anything wrong with that, besides, I think deep down he enjoys the banter………

After this Sunday the Leafs don't play again until next Wednesday.

If they totally crap the bed over these next few days then Wednesday would be the day to expect a new coach.

I’m all for changing the coach, but who can motivate these guys? Keefe appears clueless with his decisions, but no coach is going to overcome this teams lack of D and G imo…………

I think Sunday is when they decide his fate which gives them the following week to start looking and put someone in place coming out of the All Star break.

it was a much more complete roster last year is the thing
they had the same number of questions going into last season. In fact, I remember being told that depth 3 and 4 line players were not key components of contending team, despite 100yrs of evidence.

You have to start somewhere though. New coach, new system, new way of thinking. Then you see what you truly have and go from there to see if you stand pat or make trades to go for it in the playoffs.

The Leafs will have a great game because that’s what they do.
You see what they really are but then pull out a streak and everyone is drooling and good.
Everything is the right with the world and bang. What they really are. It’s been going on for years.

It's gotten to the point where I am expecting them to blow a lead.

Maybe we should try playing from behind.

I don't think it will be that cut and dry. The odds are that the Leafs will win one or two of their games this week (including Sunday's game in "this week"), if only because the odds of a 7 or 8 game losing streak are probably not high. If they do win a couple of games, I don't see them making a coaching change. If they were to lose the next three in a row, however, then all bets are off.

If I were a casual fan, that would have been a great, entertaining game to watch. Back and forth, the speed, some big hits and saves, and McDavid and Matthews showing off their skills.

As a Leaf fan, it was disappointing that even with taking the lead 27 seconds into the game, the ice tilted the Oilers way for pretty much the rest of the game. They were hemmed in, scrambling, the Oilers were grinding very well down low, and the pushback from the Leafs was almost non-existent.

Something's bound to have to give soon. This can't continue much longer.
