Serious question.Do you really think Don Sweeney can make the moves to make them a contender again before Marchand is officially cooked.
Yes. Sweeney took over a team in 2015 that had missed the playoffs and was over the cap, and 2 years later they were a 112 point team, 3 years later they were in the finals.

How do u know what price that is? And the term which has been reported as being the hold up.
I don't 'know' but I feel confident he will sign for less than a UFA off the street with similar production.

They missed the playoffs with 93 points by laying an egg on the last game of the season in 2015. The nucleus of that team which was constructed by the previous regime, was the same nucleus who went to the finals 3 years later. If Sweeney would have used his cap space more wisely than signing free agents in a Backes and Belesky and had a more competent draft in 2015, there’s no telling how good this team could have been.

IMHO Sweeney gets a lot of credit for what PC had already built, not saying it’s been all bad, but I in no way have any faith in him moving forward. If Marchand not here next year, this team is officially Sweenys with the exception of the one Superstar Pastrnak who was already on board. It is without question far worse off from what he inherited.

He is already cooked, I want no part of him for two-three more years at any price. Trade him to the highest bidder if anyone wants him at the deadline.

This team need a major re-tool , move anyone that not part of the solution to that plan.

Anyone

I would not say cooked. He offers far more than Recchi did and Recchi was a key contributor in his time with the Bruins.

Sweeney has to decide if Marchand returns enough in trade and will also return after as a free agent.

Trade for Reggie Dunlop but if not, resign Brad....he's pretty close to being a real life Reggie Dunlop...funny AF, a leader and dirty

This idea we can't quickly get better is insane.

Anthony Edwards has made more threes than anyone in the NBA other than Curry. His team sucks. It was ok last year. It can be good next year. NBA rosters are harder to change than hockey.

I hate Sweeney I want to boycott and watch them lose their ST base bc of him.

I want to see an aggressive retool, with an eye to contend in the next 1-4 years. A combination of hockey trades and selling off expiring contracts. I'd like to see a bunch of mismate prone rookies on the team down the stretch so we can see what we have and slide down the standings into the top6 of the draft in order to get Caleb Desnoyers.

I would like to see Carlo and Coyle moved in hockey trades, preferably for a high potential forward and more of a two-way D. I'm hoping that's the headline.

I'd move Freddy for a 2nd or better. I like the player but I don't want to pay him $4-5m. I'd move Brazeau too. He's not really in my matrix for next year. I re-sign Geekie. He could be a cheap middle 6 option who's young and plays a gritty game.

I would be willing to deal Marchand but only if he promises to come back on July 1st. I want him to finish his career here and I think we need him be part of the solution over the next couple years.

My depth chart (not lines) going forward is...

#1LW - #1C - Pastrnak
Marchand - Zacha - #2RW
Geekie - Lindholm - Poitras
#4LW - Kastelic - #4RW

Lindholm - McAvoy
Zadorov - #2RD
Lohrei - Peeke

Again, that's a depth chart, not necessarily lines or pairs. In other words, I think Zacha is a #2C in the NHL. I think Lindholm is a 3C. I think Poitras right now is a 3rd liner. I think Zadorov is our 2nd or 3rd biggest TOI guy, etc.

Options to fill those holes...

#1C - Draft is our only hope. Misa or Hagens if they win the lottery, Desnoyers, McQueen or Frondell if they're in the top8, O'Brien or Bear if they're top 12.

#1LW - Rantanen, Ehlers or even Marner. Go big in free agency on one of these guys.

#2RW - Lysell? Maybe someone they pick up in the Carlo trade?

#2RD - If they can't get someone in a Coyle trade, then I'd look at Pionk and Fabbro in free agency.

#4LW / #4RW - Tanner Jeannot and Mathieu Olivier. Crash line on steroids.
Hmm, unless you're GM, I think many of us will be underwhelmed for a long time.

I like all of this. With the exception of the pricy third line center, it would be a great team to watch. Keep your heads up when our new and improved fourth is out there!

I like it but I move Marchand whether he agrees to come back next season or not. Obviously I just don’t move him to move him, but if there’s a team out there who moves the needle way in the Bruins advantage, I move him.
You Marchand, you don't bring back a 37-year-old, the band aid is pulled, no need to bring back potential controversy, move on.

I`d put many chips to the middle for Sam Bennet this summer if he makes it to FA
I do not think Bennett is a must, to late for him.

You bring him back if the contract is suitable, but Id want to go year to year. The man is still their second best forward. If he wont agree to term and dollars you move him, no controversy.

Draft pick,no
Draft picks + ,I'm at least listening
If he's not signed by the deadline he has to be moved, same goes for Frederic and Brazeau
I agree with your logic. However, if he is not signed by the deadline, there is a bigger game afoot. They could try to set up an arrangement where, with his buy-in, they trade him for something and he agrees to come back on 1 July - but you could never put that deal in writing. It is one course of action, but it is not without its risk and it means we have thrown in the towel on this season.

too late? Guy is 28 yrs old

Id be very weary to sign a guy who plays that style and is approaching 30
risk every signing
