Greene got 2.95M when he was considered 2nd pairing. The last 2 seasons, he's been injured, and is considered a 3rd pairing at best on the kings, plus, it's for 4 years, so I'm thinking it should be cap friendly.

This is Lombardi's biggest problem. He holds onto players way too long, guys that he gets too emotionally attached too. Did it after we won it in 2012, re-signed the same guys and iced the exact same team. This year he realized he needed to make a move, like the one for Gaborik, to take that extra step.

Love what you've done for us Greene, you're a great leader and the team loves you but it's time to move on.

He didnt have the exacting same team...he didnt have Willie Mitchell...and if he did, things may have ended differently.I'm thrilled Matt will be back...partially because he can help the team and partially because it will drive Kings fans who are Matt Greene haters crazy.
