At the very least, this resigning has rustled the jimmies of the 2013 Stadium Series Champions Ducks fans. lol

Why the **** should they care?

Edit: Miserable as **** Ducks fans clogging up a Kings related main board thread, SHOCKING. This just in - water's wet and the sun gets hot.

I'd still love to move Regehr or convince him to retire and move King or someone similar for an upgrade on D.

How do you convince a guy (a hockey player with a year left on his contract) to retire? And you know they'll never trade King.

Four years? Woah.

Not a huge fan of this; really would have preferred to keep Mitchell. But it is what it is. We just won our second Cup in three years. :yo::yo::yo:

Bryan Allen plays a regular shift in their line-up. Furthermore, although Lovejoy had a better year than expected (that wrist shot on Quick in the playoffs was admittedly pretty sick), he was leftover scraps from the PENGUINS' DEFENSE. Let that sink in for a second...

They were also pumping Robidas hard after the deadline. Robidas.

There is no way in this market, at his age, having been a regular player during 2 Cup runs and wearing an "A" on an NHL team as long as Greene has that he's signing a one-year "make good" contract. I'd be more than stunned. I'd also be surprised if he took less than $3.5M AAV, but less surprised than if he signed for just 1 year.

There are no hometown discounts...there never have been and in L.A. you just won't see one unless you have a special guy who just wants to win or values the lifestyle more than others do..

Go back to 2012 and every player that was a free agent took a "hometown discount" and signed for less to stay here it happens all the time but mostly with good teams.

So...
Doughty-Muzzin
Voynov-Regehr
Martinez-Greene
McNabb

?

Yup, the Kings could really use a Muzzin-type player to pair with Voynov. Maybe McNabb is that guy down the road a bit.

They won't. Obviously sarcasm. I mean I like Regehr, I'd just prefer to see the Kings d more mobile.
Hmm, make 3 millions dollars for working one more year at the ripe old age of 34 or walk away and make nothing. I think I'll stay thanks.
Can't disagree. See above.

Hoping it's McNabb but wouldn't hesitate if a similar deal was available again for another McNabb/Muzzin type.

You need to show me the Kings players you're talking about because I don't see any contracts in capgeek that I'd consider a hometown discount. Stoll, Williams, those aren't discounts. Quick? His contract is cap friendlier but not a discount at all... Doughty certainly wasn't a discount, Voynov didn't take a discount unless you're comparing salaries in the KHL, which doesn't have a cap. And certainly no other team's UFAs have been willing to give the Kings a discount. Scuderi wasn't a discount, Mitchell never signed for less....and neither B. Richards & Kovalchuk were willing to play in L.A. for less money. So I don't know what you're talking about.

I've yet to see the Kings player sign for less than they were worth to stay.

if Greener can play like he did in the playoffs, i wouldnt mind this. his problem is that hes inconsistent and hes been injured quite often as of late....but as others are saying, i can only imagine how important he is in the room. i know thats a big factor for Deano

Pancakes was the only one, and he played like **** in that regular season.

Agreed. I don't like this one bit if it's for 4 years. I like Greene's leadership qualities and he did pretty good this playoff run, but I'd be happier if it was 2-3 years.

Don't worry, we still have until the end of the week to buy him out if we're not happy with him.....

@JasonGregor 15m

Stoll just congratulated Matt Greene on air for his new four-year deal. So I guess that indeed confirms his new contract. #Kings

Doesn't surprise me , I figured Matt Greene would go nowhere. LA is his home, wouldn't surprise me if he agreed to less money to stay.

This tells me Lombardi is not going to offer Mitchell more than a one year contract.

The Kings have McNabb/Gravel/Forbort coming.

This is all speculation, but I'm really surprised that Mitchell is insisting on more than a year. I think he's going to regret not being a king.

I'm disappointed too, especially since Lombardi put his faith in him on a couple multi-year deals. Dean also stood behind him even when injuring himself in the off season and costing himself and the Kings a season of service. Looks like Dean made his choice, though. Thanks for everything Mitchell. Hopefully doesn't end up on another Western Conference contender.

i thought he was playing through the knee trouble in 2012? him injuring himself in the off-season is news to me....
