P.S. If you look at the reactions of other teams' fans, this looks a lot brighter than were painting it out to be. Everyone seems bummed that their team won't have a chance to sign him in free agency. One of those things that makes our success even more surreal as fans; we're griping about re-signing an absolute warrior as our 6th defenseman while other fans would love to have him.

Lots of people gonna be shocked this summer at some of the deals handed out but I think we sometimes tend to forget about contracts being a percentage of the cap rather than a flat amount.

I remember Brown's and Kopitar's last contracts being an overpayment. Less than 7 doesn't sound so bad for Kopi now eh?

Greene is a big part of the dressing room and culture.

I like Mitchell better on the ice but I always thought Greene would return of the two.

Greene has earned his spot and is known by all of us as a key locker room guy. There is a ton of value in that alone but the fact that he can still play bottom pairing D and knows what it takes to win when it matters makes him a valuable part of the team. Nasty will be our 7th and will get his time and MG will be with the team so long as he makes sense.
