Good thing the league is gonna get us in. CHI wins 4-1

Good road trip... but didn't get any separation in the standings.... just maintained...

Exactly. After the Islanders win, everyone here was talking about jumping ahead of Vancouver lmao now we're talking about missing the playoffs. Crazy what 2 pathetic games make people think, eh?

We also lost a lot without Sekera though. Not saying it's the end of us, but we got him for a reason.

That's honestly all you could expect on the 5 in 8. I didn't even think the Kings would win 3.

I said the season would come down to the last Five games of the season. Low and behold.

Keep watching Chicago's 3rd goal. Wow. That's Mike Richards' last two seasons in LA in one shift. Unbelievable. I can't get over how bad this guy got, wtf happened to him.

That 3rd was more on Cliffy getting beat to the puck along the boards, than Richards getting burned. Richards was in good position trying get the puck out, yet it was Clifford who was just standing still wait for the puck to get to him and Jalmerson just blew right by him and took the puck. Clifford was way too high on the play and didn't know he was by him until it was in the net.

On the challenges in the loss to Chicago:
I think getting down two. Obviously both teams aren’t going to give up much, and you know they got up the two goals in the second period. It’s tough coming back.

On Chicago having played the night before:
Back-to-backs don’t affect teams anymore. … Looking at us, I would say finishing off at the end of the five games is harder than – back-to-backs don’t bother teams anymore. All these guys are machines.

On Chicago responding to Jake Muzzin’s goal with two quick second period goals:
You know what? I didn’t like the call on Sekera. Duncan scores the power play goal, and the third goal, Clifford loses coverage on Hjalmarsson. As I said, that’s the difference. We probably had to score on the power play that we had in the second, and we couldn’t.

On there being time remaining to still rise in the standings and make the playoffs:
Gotta win games. Gotta win out. You don’t ‘lose and you win’ in this league, especially the way the divisions are set up.
Funny Sutter blames Clifford but not Mike Richards for turning the puck over twice in the Kings zone.

I still maintain this was a throw away game. The upcoming games are more important. At least they didn't expend too much energy with this game.

If we got a 7th point on this trip and played ok during the last two games, then yeah I'd agree with you. But the way things happen over the last two games, the lack of effort at trying to win the games is why I want to throw my remote through my tv.

He's right. Watch the 3rd goal, it wasn't Richard who lost his man at the point , it was Clifford. If he's say 2 feet closer to the boards he can chip it out, or at least tie his man up, He looked like he was 4 feet away from the boards and Hjalmarsson just blew right by him.

Why do people keep saying this?

"If we didn't win the cup, things would be different."

Is there a different goal I'm unaware of?

Thats not the point.

The point is if the Sharks wouldn't hit the post 2 times in game 7
Sutter wouldn't be the coach anymore.
Now people celebrate this guy who shouldn't even be close to a NHL team.

Sutter should just group the entire unit together, no one was any more pathetic than the other.

They each played about 10 minutes and were on the ice for 2 goals against and multiple other quality chances including the one by Saad.

But ultimately, Darryl needs to look in the mirror when it comes to blame for the continued awfulness of the fourth line.

ok it's easy street from now on:

vs EDM
vs COL
@ VAN
@ EDM
@ CGY
vs SJ

you can't get easier than this

Kings show up every game like it's game 7 they'll win 6 or go 5-0-1

i'm still confident, but i know it's a crazy battle... but it's definitely doable

You think Lombardi would have fired Sutter if the Sharks swept the Kings ?

Where have you been the last Three years ? Hell since Lombardi got hired ?

You know Dean Lombardi right ?

For Christ sake Jarret Stoll is still an LA King, Matt Greene has a four year contract, Mike Richards is still a King; And you think that same GM would have fired Sutter. Wow.

Sutter would not have been fired if the Kings lost to SJ. It is ridiculous to even suggest it

And it's ridiculous to make judgements and contract decisions on individual players based on the teams success, that is not a good way of building a consistent winner and the current Kings are a perfect example of that. If the Kings lost to SJ or lost to Anaheim or even lost to Chicago or NY then Richards is almost surely bought out, but because Williams, Kopitar, Gaborik, The 70's Line, Doughty etc. played great and won then it excuses Richards miserable season and the risk his contract carried? Sorry I just don't get that point of view some people have used to defend Dean's decision to not buyout Richards and re-sign Greene, never have never will.

There is no excuse to be in the spot we are in with the cap, enjoy the cup win for a couple of weeks then evaluate every player individually and go from there. Lombardi butchered some decisions last summer and the Kings are going to be worse off for a couple of years. I do feel like he has learned from it and it won't happen again, but he still butchered the moves last summer.

It wouldn't matter anyway if Sutter did get fired, the Next coach would be John Stevens.

Stevens is a carbon copy of Sutter/Murray hockey. Kurrilino you need to seriously evaluate being a Kings fan(Kidding, well maybe), Lombardi is going to cause you a lot of rage in the future.

I now see why Kurrilino was such a celebrity around here. He's the Steve Ott of these boards.

you guys will be fine, I think you guys will get in the wildcard spot over the jets. I mean if you don't make the playoffs when playing 4 non playoff teams and with Edmonton being 2 of em, you probably didn't deserve to make it the first place

I think we all sort of feel this way more or less anyway.

100% True.

The Kings hold their own destiny.

Only difference between the Kings winning the cup & losing to San Jose in the first round: Mike Richards. He would've been bought out. Matt Greene would've probably been gone too. There is absolutely no way in hell that Sutter would've been fired. The guy has brought the Kings 2 Stanley Cups and an appearance in the Western Conference finals 3 years in a row. That's impressive stuff. He can stay.
