Good thing the league is gonna get us in. CHI wins 4-1

Perhaps this was strategy? You know. Why strain against a good team like Chicago when the tank is already low? Maybe we go all out and win, but depleted our energy for the easier stretch of games coming up. They have a small room for error. Actually a tiny minutia of room. But, maybe they needed to use that room for the final push. Think about it. Which game or games is more important? Tonight's game against Chicago or the games against Edm x2, Col, Cal, & Van?

After Calgary lost to Minnesota on Friday night, I thought the Kings would continue winning and turn this season around. But nope, we're actually in a worst position than going into this 5 game road trip. Who would've thought lol, especially after starting it 3-0.

Generally speaking yes, but the way everyone else is playing around us, "successful" isn't good enough. Just a reality of the situation we're in.

Sure, but if we started the trip 0-2 and then went 3-0, what would the tune around here be?

(not directed at you, rhetorical question)

Yup.

It's heating up good buddy.

Richards would be running away with it ala Tiger in 97, but if Brown wears it then it's certainly deserving, Brown has been terrible this year.

@Whiskeypete, Don't think the Kings would have to buy out Greene, someone would offer a 4th or 5th based on his physicality and leadership. I think if Greene stays Regehr is for sure gone, but I would personally rather have RR. Williams is done for sure, I think Stoll may consider retirement but certainly won't get a deal from LA. Richards is going to be bought out, just to many games like tonight the past two seasons, no way would any pro scout recommend to his GM to trade for this guy. I think MR is bought out and retires or ends up in Europe if he wants to keep playing, that is no longer an NHL player. Dean's biggest need this summer is going to be a 3C, I like Shore but I don't think he is ready to be a 3C on a team that wants to contend.

It was basically the whole game in a nut shell. Chicago just puts Toews on Kopitar, cancel each-other out. While Saad Destroys the Kings fourth line, textbook Chicago home win.

For some Reason Sutter allows it to happen, by playing the fourth line. The difference in the playoffs was Chicago got destroyed by Carter's line

Yup. The Kings were able to score enough goals to nearly win Games 5 and 6 and then were able to win Game 7.

The problem is it's not realistic to score 4 and 5 goals, and that is what the Kings have to do win when Sutter lets the Richards line continue to get abused by Saad's line for multiple goals a game, and just imagine if Kane were playing.

The usual loss.
No hockey sense, no plan or execution of offense.
Not even a spark of caring.

In Europe's soccer they would say the coach isn't reaching the team
anymore.
But this condition is around since Sutter started here.

Exactly same story every season.
How would you guys like it, if we didn't have these lucky scores in game 7 a couple of times ????

That's not even true. The Kings are exactly where they started the road trip, still in control of their own playoff destiny.

If the same team from the past 2 games show up for the next 6, my statement won't be as ridiculous.

The team could lose the next 6 games and it would still be a silly claim. You're suggesting the only way they can lose is 'mailing it in.' professional athletes. That have won the cup, not the TML. I have guys in my beer league that are too competitive to mail it in, it's insulting to suggest that this team is doing that.

They can look like **** and it's most likely not a lack of heart, there's plenty of other more feasible reasons for sucking against elite teams than suddenly not caring if you make the playoffs.

Why do people keep saying this?

"If we didn't win the cup, things would be different."

Is there a different goal I'm unaware of?

I actually thought the 3 in the east would be the toughest part of the trip, and that's where they played their best hockey. I'm not sure what happened once they skipped time zones, but managed to to lose to teams coming off back to back games, while have a day off to wait for them. Both teams were said to be tired and worn out, but it was the Kings who looked like it on both occasions.:shakehead

So what are you saying? That the Kings would have won the last three Stanley Cups if we had anyone else as a coach?

Calgary has won back to back games on the road vs Nashville and Dallas. That's impressive. Still can't get over the fact that this was the 2nd game of a back to back for Chicago. We truly suck at playing teams on the 2nd game of a back to back, wow.

They had a forced day off under the CBA in there. And it somehow threw them off their rhythm.

Sutter himself said that this team hasn't shown the same desperation they have the last 3 years. What do you think he means by that?

completely agree.

i love Richards and was praying last summer would lead to a revival, but it isn't there any longer. he had a pass to him tonight just inside the CHI blueline in the 2nd or 3rd and coughed it up with barely any pressure. i can do that and i'm 48, dude is 20-years younger than me and shouldn't.

i thought we still had 3-5 seasons of MR in his prime and producing 30-40 pts, while centering the #3 line. i was wrong. DL was wrong. it has been a great run with him, but it is time to move forward.

i could possibly see the move on Greene, but at this point i would be happy for him to just be released. if dean can move him for a pick then even better.

i don't care if JW has 1-2 more seasons in him. let it be someplace else, because i can't take anymore of his turnover machine.

Not really.

Doesn't matter if the Kings can still get 100 points.

What matters is they're trailing 2 other teams that have a leg up on them. Because of that, their fate isn't in their own hands. It's partly in the hands of Calgary and Winnipeg.

Even if the Kings go 6-0 and reach 100 points, if Calgary goes 4-1-1 and Winnipeg goes 5-1, the Kings are out. That's a challenge for Calgary and Winnipeg but for the Kings to go 6-0 is really thin. They've done that twice this season and the 1st time was at the start of the season with all home games and, I believe, a full healthy roster. Now 3 of their last 6 are on the road, Pearson's still out and Doughty looks fried. I don't see us outplaying Winnipeg and Calgary by 3/4 points over this final stretch. Would love to be wrong though.
