Good thing the league is gonna get us in. CHI wins 4-1

Thats not the point.

The point is if the Sharks wouldn't hit the post 2 times in game 7
Sutter wouldn't be the coach anymore.
Now people celebrate this guy who shouldn't even be close to a NHL team.

And if my dog had balls she would be a breeder.

I shake my head every time someone says writes "if" in the antecedent and then concludes something preposterous, as you have done.

If if if if if if if ......... yeah, okay. Whatever.

what the hell did I just read, sutter should not be close to an NHL team?
If the kings miss the playoffs it will be the first time he has missed the playoffs as a head coach when he was the coach for a full year.
All the guy knows is hockey.
I have criticized sutter and have wondered if the type of system he has truly fits with regular season hockey, but there is no denying his past successes and his knowledge of the game.

I have news for you. Sutter would have been the coach this season if the Kings had been swept in the 1st round. You don't fire a coach that takes you to a Stanley Cup Championship and Western Conference Final in back-to-back seasons.

Had the Kings been swept you can bet that Richards and probably Greene would not have returned though.

What a bunch of Debbie Downers you guys are. It ain't over til it's over. I'm obviously not excited over the effort last night but there are 6 games left and they are only two points behind 8th and 3 points behind 3rd.

Let's have a poll. Who is the Debbie Downyiest?

From the start of the road trip to the end of it, the Kings did actually gain ground on Vancouver and Winnipeg. They played one more game than both teams, but it was their game in hand. Fell further back of Calgary though.

It could've been worse.

ok it's easy street from now on:

vs EDM
vs COL
@ VAN
@ EDM
@ CGY
vs SJ

you can't get easier than this

Kings show up every game like it's game 7 they'll win 6 or go 5-0-1

i'm still confident, but i know it's a crazy battle... but it's definitely doable

It looks good on paper but still have to play the games. I think LA will need to win out to get in the playoffs at this point. Not impossible but it's going to take a lot to do it.

That would be one hell of a contest with some of the sad sacks around here.

The Kings have been playing great the past few months. Unfortunately, they dug themselves earlier in the season and pissed away more points late in third periods than I can count so it has been an uphill battle.

MOnths? No they haven't, not even close. They had an 8 game winning streak and before and after that a few games where they played well but not consistant. Other thanthe 6 games Quick stole for them in Oct and that 8 game streak, they have been average at best and mediocre most of the time.

Great? No...just no...

Yet again this^. I am as optimistic as they come and let faith carry me through the hard times with the team but I think deeshamrock has it nailed on the head yet again.

i have zero faith in them at this point. they have shown practically zero interest this season in playing to win. the language, body english and on ice performance are all you have to look at.

it was a season of excuses, for the most part the entire roster mailed in an 82 game season.

Yep... it's doable. They're literally a coin flip at this point.

It's depressing that the team is 16-7-2 down the stretch and have made absolutely zero ground in the standings. They're playing well enough to deserve a better fate - trouble is so is everyone else the Kings are chasing.

Since the all star break (two months) they are 17-10-2. That would be good for 102 points extrapolated for a full season. That would tie the second best finish in club history. Don't want to call it great? Fine. It's at least good. That's two points better than last year. What was last year? Ok? :shakehead

I know you haven't been a fan of the Kings long but 100 points is a great season by the Kings' standards.

there lies the problem, they haven't played like that all season. as usual they have a subpar first half and end up playing catch up down the stretch.

those two snapshots are just that, snapshots. of the two best sequences this season. they cannot and seem to not want to play with consistency during an 82 game season. hell i would take a 60-70 game season of consistency. a few streaks of above average success will no longer be sufficient.

90-95 points used to result as a shoo-in for the PO's. the bar has been raised and the team is not responding the way a champion should. they are one of a few teams in the league that presently should be the leaders and whom other teams are chasing. instead it is the other way around.

Winnipeg's got the worst schedule right now in terms of a team trying to hang on to a playoff spot. Add in the fact that we own the ROW tiebreaker vs. them and play Edmonton this week.

I'm not stressing. Cardiac Kings. Always. This year is certainly no different.

I'm afraid this is exactly right. That '70s line and Quick carried the team during the 6-game win streak. Kopitar finally woke up and did some heavy lifting during the 8-game win streak, and got a lot of help as well.

Other than that, the Kings have been an average team the rest of the season. On top of it all, Doughty looks dead tired right now.

For the most part LA has been a better possession team since the all star break. So it's trending in the right direction, just hope LA does not run out of time.

NOt just better, THE best. Bar none. But yes, the race against time. We're almost out of track is the only problem.

I agree with you. If you read the post she responded to, I said the Kings have played great the past few months. Maybe "great" is stretching it but I think some of you folk are being a bit critical during their current play. They dug themselves a hole early and are still try to claw their way out of it even with the (what I consider) pretty good play since the all star break. And again, you can probably count how many games they pissed away a point in the final 5 minutes of a game this season on two hands. Two hands! That is the real kicker.

I'm not stressing. Cardiac Kings. Always. This year is certainly no different.

I'm not stressing either. If they make it, they make it. This is the status quo for the team and I laugh at all the people on here who get worked up over this crap. I witnessed way too many sub par seasons by the Kings to get bummed out when they still have a chance to get in the playoffs. I'm personally still playing with house money.

If they do miss, I will be bummed out because I want to watch them in the playoffs but until then, I'm not going to whine about their play when in reality they have done pretty good since the all star break.
