Good thing the league is gonna get us in. CHI wins 4-1

If Kings miss the playoffs, does Lombardi make a drastic change to this group? My guess is Dustin Brown is a goner. Williams, Stoll, Richards also gone. We can have this convo 2 weeks from now, or not have this convo.

Dustin Brown won't be going anywhere.

Richards on the other hand.....

First Bold: Wrong. Brown isn't going anywhere.

2nd bold: Hit the nail on the head. Would like to keep Justin, but I think he's gone. Stoll and Richards are for sure gone.

You actually think Brown is a goner? Good grief Charlie Brown!:shakehead

I just don't understand how this is the loss that puts everyone over the edge. A regular season game to the only other team we KNOW embarrasses us and who has that extra gear we have. We should be more mad after the Minny game than we were and less mad about this one.

Either way, as Damacles said, we knew this final stretch would be meaningful, and I personally thought we'd be worse off than we are.

It is the playoffs right now.

I'll tell you what - I knew this game was gonna be a lose because the Kings always struggle against Chicago. Especially in Chicago. I had it on in the background while I did work. Very rarely do I start a game off like that. The Kings aren't done. They're still right in the thick of it. Kings control their destiny. I don't even scoreboard watch because I don't care. All the updates I get are through this board. If the Kings win five of these games they are in. Period. Other teams losing does the Kings nothing.

Just. Win.

Need to win out

If Stoll retires due to concussion I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings hired him to a front office position

Like, I understand the angst, but it's weird to me that it explodes tonight vs. a team that has our number on our last game on the road instead of the other night.

I think its more to do with the back to back poor showing . They went from good solid hockey to start the roadtrip to meh uninspired hockey by jumping one timezone. For me they played pretty soft in the last two games, not something they usually do. When Saad or whoever says the Jets were harder to play against than we were, it pisses me off. The Hawks were beat up tired team coming in and the Kings really did nothing to continue the same thing the Jets started 24 hours earlier.

Brown isn't going anywhere unless he has another two years, at least, of these pathetic 20 point campaigns.

And by then, his contract will put him in Mike Richards untouchable territory anyway.

He's already had two consecutive seasons of being a 20+ point range forward (not counting the lockout season).

He used to average 50+ points. It's amazing how bad he's gotten with the puck. Zero sense of attacking the net.

Not a bad road trip. Wish we could have picked up one more point in the last two games, but overall it wasn't as terrible as our road games this year. On to the next. 6 games left...

Brown changed his stick a few years ago and it seems to be an ongoing disaster. Never a great puck handler he has managed to get worse every year. I would rather see him at a hockey camp working on skating and puck handling than come back to camp "chiseled". I think he gets the double secret probation talk (ala Richards) from DL this spring.

I think we're just seeing what happens to championship teams. You go all in with a young core. They prove themselves. You award them with a lot of money.

But then the core ages, or regresses, and all that money, rightfully earned at the time, starts looking pretty bad.

Also, remember that the Yzerman/Lidstrom era Wings only won three cups. Over the span of six years. The Joe Sakic/Patrick Roy Avs? Two over six years.

The LA Kings of 2012-2014 will be held in similar regard decades from now. Be happy with what we've already won and consider this season an unfortunate, but necessary fold after two successful all-ins.

Brown would be very difficult to trade.

In the 1st year of an 8-year contract with a cap hit of $5.875M.

He'll be 30 when the next season starts, and players that play with Brown's physical presence often age quickly.

His offensive game has all but disappeared.

I expect he'd be harder to move than Mike Richards.

Exactly. I ain't even mad. I think it's especially frustrating how the game actually played out, but expecting a win in that barn against that team given the lackluster history involved and the road trip from hell schedule is expecting too much. The only thing that really bugged me (aside from the generally lethargic play for 2 games in a row) was yet another game where the Kings have allowed their opponents to score back-to-back goals in a short time span. That's been an epidemic this season - usually after the Kings play balls out for 20 minutes but can't finish.

It's been top team after top team after top team. NYR, NYI, MIN, CHI... all on the road? ****ing difficult for any team trying to get 4 wins out of those 4 road games. In 6 nights! They're not robots.

It's times like this I pull up the PGT after Game 3 vs. San Jose last playoffs. The fan suggestions in that thread are hilarious in retrospect.

If we lose to Edmonton you better get your Hazmat out because this place is going ****ing nuclear.

****ign Edmonton has been dangerous even before getting Hall back.
I was hoping for 6 points outta the last 4 games on the road trip. stupid Wild an hawks.

It's the Chicago factor. They usually make the Kings look stupid during the regular season and it's frustrating.
