Hyvä Suomi!! Congratulation to Finland!! Obviously they only win the title in the uneven years 1995, 2011, 2019. They shortened the time between the titles always the half:
1995 to 2011 = 16 years
2011 to 2019 = 8 years
Next title may be in 2023?
Jukka Jalonen must be the king of the coaches in Finland now. The only finnish coach who won 2 titles at the whc.

Hey you stole my idea from yesterday’s thread

Maybe we Czechs reverse this Logic, as we won in 2005 and then 2010 = 5 years -> x2 2020? So we are next world champions

Miracle of Mörkö

This team. This team!

Out of the three world champion teams from Finland, this has to be the most unlikely, easily. What a story: a bunch of no-names fight their hearts out and beat all the contenders filled with stars on the way. This is a straight up syrupy sports movie. Except it's real. I still can't believe it really happened.

And Marko 'Groke' Anttila! What on Earth did he eat before these crucial games in the tournament? Amazing

CELEBRATION TIME MY DUDES AND DUDETTES

In a single game elimination tournament anything can happen and that's why you see so many different winners in international hockey.
The Olympic sized ice makes the entertainment value poor enough, and combined with a lack of skill it is even less entertaining to me. Obviously this tournament is important to a lot of Finnish fans, so I'm definitely happy for those that are going to be able to enjoy and celebrate this win, I'm sure they will get a lot more out of this than Canadian fans would have if they had won.

In a single game elimination tournament anything can happen, and that’s why at the MOST competitive sport on earth, football, we have Brazil with 5 trophies, Germany with 4, Italy at 3, Argentina and a few others at 2

But I must I must disagree with the entertainment value. I wonder if this is because you value Ottawa vs Tampa Bay more, while for us Russia vs Czechia is valued more.. but still, the size does not make it any less boring..
Europeans love a more sophisticated version of sports, a Milan-Juve of 1-0 can be enthralling.. 3-1 is a damn competitive game and good tv.

Well. After cooling off I think the guys had a great tournament. The Finnish team almost seems like destined to win it all in hind sight and, while we had great stretches during the game the pucks just did not go in.

Leijonat did whatever it took to win - Sweden Russia and finally us. Finns can be proud. There would be ifs and buts if the road to the Final had been different, but they went through the toughest teams and Tre Kronor and Russia both were real power houses.

There was nothing sophisticated about this game.

Just a hard working effort on both sides.

I'm just so glad for the team, made the impossible possible. Marko f*ucking Anttila scores 4 in the knockout stage. And Lankinen was a wall. Pesonen great today also.

Hyvvä Suomi

This is so unbelievable... in second period we were able to play the game we wanted, but about 45 minutes of the game was all Team Canada vs. turtle and Lankinen. But this again shows everyone that in a tournament, where the playoff games are decided in one game, a team with a good gameplan can win a team that's better on paper.

Also I started to think that did Finns get NHL games in their stats from these last three games? :sarcasm:

Lol swedish media is so happy. Why do finns think we hate them?
I haven’t thought like that for already more than a decade. I like you guys in general. Have even often cheered for you winning the WHC, if Finland has been out already. Swedes, Swiss, Slovakians or Czechs get always my sympathy, when they are not playing against Finland. :)
