This tournament doesn't even prove anything. Canada was playing without Drouin, MacKinnon, Monahan, Horvat, Ekblad.

The Olympics are best vs best, and there's a reason Canadian men and women are champs 2 Olympics running.

Ill wait a day -when we ll have so many pro hockey players (like Canada).Just now we at 5th place -in amount pro players among hockey nations.
The only problem of this Ru team - was that we havent stars. We ll wait big generations only after 1998 born players.
Anyway congratulations to Beavers - they were best.
Thank you. Russia is always so scary. The only way one can feel comfortable with a lead against Russia is when we have 7 more goals. Up 3 or 4 goals in the 2nd periods is still a dangerous situation.

1994 birth year. would not have been eligible anyway.

Canada are even worse and have always been? Incredible amount of trash talk, cockinesss and taunting. How can Canadiens not see this? The rest of the world knows it.
There is a difference between the players and the fans. Canadian players do not usually taunt, Russian players are more guilty of that. They're kids after all. [mod]

Canada proves again that they are vastly superior to anybody else when it comes to hockey and Russia proves again that they cannot compete with the standard of excellence set by Canada
You cannot be saying this with a straight face. How can you say Canada is *vastly* superior when Russia was able to almost catch up?

Everyone made a big deal about Petan but i knew he wouldn't do anything this game. Skilled player but he was awful as the going got tough.

I crapped all over Gauthier all tournament but as the game got tight and we needed to rely on him he delivered.

Theodore was awesome can't wait for him to make the Ducks.

It was obvious he was hurt but I guess you were not paying attention :shakehead , why would you have a preconceived notion he wouldn't do anything....you know what forget it.... I really don't care what you have to say because I only care about Canada winning not whether a player (who just had a hat trick in the previous game against a red hot goalie who led his team to the bronze medal and tied for the tournament lead in scoring) had one of his better games in the gold medal final or not when he has been pretty frickin good all along.

Kudos to Kanada. They are still a team to beat.

With a better goalie for Russia (ANY of the past 5 years), the outcome would've likely been different. Russia have yet again showed they are never to be taken lightly.

i guess you could say that about past Canadian teams

sorry pal you guys have lost very important games because of your trash talking remember when Forsberg said Canada can't beat us.
Canada always respects their opponents.

Because I knew they wouldn't atNO point did I feel the game was in doubt

I just don't think he is as good as people think when he loses all that time and space. Not saying he's a bad player I just figured he wouldn't be an impact at all against a stronger team. I'm entitled to my opinion and if you didn't care what I had to say you wouldn't of answered. I saw he got hurt and I mentioned that in one of my posts, but if he was hurt so badly to play the way he was he shouldn't have been on the ice. He'll be a good player and have a good career, just the way people said McDavid had to step up against a good team I knew he would and I figured Petan would disappear but no one was calling him out. So I did, deal with it.

Hats off to the Russians, they weathered the storm twice, once in the first period by answering after the frenzied TC start w/ two quick goals early; then again in the second when down 5-1. Even I felt somewhat comfortable with a 4 goal lead but thought to myself you never know with those Russians, always a skilled and pesky/persistent bunch, then sure enough a pp goal and the tide turns in a hurry.

A Canada - Russia final just feel so right. Best international hockey rivalry of all time, no offense U.S. you are a worthy adversary as well esp. recently; but there is obviously a long history b/t the two countries in hockey. Regardless of star power, I personally never take any Russian team lightly.

Props to the boys for holding the fort in the 3rd, and Russia for showing a lot of heart to make it as close as it was. One of the best teams Canada has iced at the Juniors imo, at least from the years I've been watching.

WJ Gold again, finally. :handclap:

That Yakupov clip is gold btw  Reminds me part of why it feels so good beating Russia

It's okay Russia, you have a lot of things going for you in your country right now.

We don't need this kind of attitude. Especially from a country taking part in this war. and btw nothing is going in our country. We're fine. We're just taking notes about who is trying to hurt us.

And it was a good game. Russia should have won in early in the third. They came out cold and could build of the 2nd period momentum. Not impressed with all those canadian stars. If you compare the attention McJesus&Co. are getting and what is said and thought about the russian players I think ppl overrate those canadian future stars ot underrate the Russians. There was no clearly better team on the ice.

except the team that jumped to a 5-1 lead

What a great game! Both teams had their ups and downs and the changes in momentum were fantastic! Really not a huge fan of the taunting thing. I don't know if it was just the Russians after their first goal or if both teams were doing it, but that really lacks sportsmanship. Anyways, they're kids, and they'll learn as they mature I guess. Was still a great game to watch and both teams deserve credit for putting on a show. Way to go Canada for bringing back the Gold!!!

Great game. Even though the referees couldve whistled atleast one penalty against canadians during the last 7mins or so.

Go away. There is no need for such jingoistic comments after a great gold medal game and tournament by both Russia and Canada.
