Why do the Russians taunt so much? Is it part of their culture? Being sincere, not sure how else to ask it.

Canada are even worse and have always been? Incredible amount of trash talk, cockinesss and taunting. How can Canadiens not see this? The rest of the world knows it.

why don't you go kick up some more excuses about why you get your ass kicked

Great to end the drought. Now let's go win 2 in a row in Helsinki and my criticism of the dumb dumbs at Hockey Canada will stop.

Here's one lesson for those aforementioned dumb dumbs at Hockey Canada... team rallying calls, themes, slogans, motivational tools should come organically from the team you put together and not something created by team managers (Salmond). i.e. tic-tac-toa vs RHN traipsing around Ufa arena in a superman cape.

It either develops or it doesn't. And I hope Scott Salmond has learned that lesson.

The Russians taunted because they wanted to offset the home crowd support that Canada was getting. As you saw at the end of the game, they're all good lads who respect the Canadian Team (they hugged them). It's true that Russians are more direct and less diplomatic - also in light of all the anti-Russian hatred that's been spewing this past year, it's clear that the Russian players sensed the animosity of the Canadian crowd.

Anyway, the Russians wanted to defend the honour of their country and didn't want to be 'pushovers', so they came out aggressively. They knew that their country was watching them and did not want their country to be humiliated. Russians are patriotic people.

Canada proves again that they are vastly superior to anybody else when it comes to hockey and Russia proves again that they cannot compete with the standard of excellence set by Canada

Much respect to Russia for coming back and making it a game, but the fact of the matter is, they seriously lucked out in two of those goals they scored to make it 5-4. One puck went of Gauthier's skate and was a fluke goal, while another one was a terrible goal allowed by Fucale which trickled past him off his skate.

The Russians should be thanking the refs, because that boarding penalty that gave the Russians momentum by making it 5-2 against Virtanen, was a borderline call. The Russians got away with some penalties, while they in turn got 4 straight Power Plays in the Second and going to the Third, to steal the momentum.

Following your logic...Canada was lucky to have 5 goals instead of 2 because first goal was rather lucky one, second onbe was pure luck with loose stick, fourth goal was fully Sorokin fault. Talking about referees? There is a many who think vice versa so its pointless to argue here. In the end, Canada won it, good for Canada and be happy.

I just wonder what were you saying in last four years?

I would think a vastly superior program wouldn't need five years to prove themselves.

Highly skilled players plus the unpredictability of teenagers is what makes this tourney great!

Well when you combine what they did at the olympics and then this their dominance is being proven. all that's left that actually matters is the world cup of hockey they win that the program ad a whole will be back on track

It's because of posters like the one above why I was fearing Canada's win. "Canada superior!!!", "Canada is VASTLY superior to everyone!" and "Hockey is Canada's game!".

Yup. Team Canada is the best ever, we're not worthy, blah blah blah....

Same here. Gets pretty old. There are many good posters though.

Canada is great hockey nation, no need to be ashamed of that. Happy that Canada won.

Candaian hockey players just don't know how to play on big ice.

Bring the winning OL team, the European league players would still whoop them.

Canada dominated on big ice in the last best on best. Shut you swedes down and out. Canada allowed 3 goals the entire tournament!

Yeah - you'd whoop us.

same thing because of the olympic gold medals adding this gold just solidifies it and if they win the world cup then it's over the haters have to accept the fact Canada is the best

It's not like winning the World Cup proves anything. It's the Olympics that matter the most.

Look guys that was an intense game, but the internet tough guy routine is old.

I for one thought Canada had it wrapped up at 5-1, but the Russians never gave up and made it a great game.
There will always be instances where the referees could've made a call and didn't or shouldn't have and did. It's what's human about the game we love.

I had a buddy that was at the game and said t was crazy the atmosphere and he also said he was sitting beside some Russian fans and they were very nice even when some drunk prices nearby were taunting them after 5-1.
Remember that it is just a game and at the end of the Day all of us who post on here don't have a medal around our necks. It's the kids that do.
