Softy of the night is this Connor Sheary goal on Adin Hill



It was really between this one and the second goal Sharangovich scored on Vasilevskiy yesterday, but that one was one timed.

It’s almost like Hill doesn’t completely close down the 5-hole until well after the shot is in the back of the net. Brett Hedican who does color commentary for the Sharks was calling him out for this and even the Ovechkin goal for not being able to realize where Ovechkin is on the ice and where he shoots from, when he had a good shot at having Ovechkin’s shot hit him and it didn’t.

But tonight’s 2 goals I counted stoppable were both worth true softy of the night caliber. Even if there were more goals I counted stoppable tonight. Markstrom gave the puck away on his goal I count d stoppable. This is a really weak one on Fleury.

One notable deviation that I have for this year's stoppable goals and actual save percentage is Jake Allen. I only have him down for 7 goals stoppable and he's 42 in total. And his save percentage is .898% on the year. In counting under 17% of his goals as stoppable this year, that's one of the lowest percentages in the league. On the other side, I've counted 8 goals stoppable on Montembeault, while he's allowed 19 in total and that's just an abysmal percentage on my count. Yet his save percentage is also .898% like Allen's.

Allen ranked okay last year on my percentages also, with just 20 goals stoppable on 76 allowed. That was a little better than league average on my count, but his save percentage was .907%, which was just a little below the league average.

Now the year before, when he was still in St. Louis and had a .927% on the season, I counted 19 goals stoppable out of 48 allowed in total. That was probably one of the percentages on my count that year. That's almost 40%. I remember after that season there being talk of Allen being an asset for the Blues and someone they could get something decent for after having a season like that. For 18-19 season, I had him down for 35 goals stoppable on on 121 and he had a .905% save percentage. I'm pretty sure I remember counting A LOT of goals stoppable on him earlier in that year when he was still their starting goaltender and before Jordan Binnington even became a thing outside of the AHL. And I'm pretty sure his save percentage was also in the toilet that year (below .900%) until Binnington took over the starting gig and Allen was relagated to backup only.
