Softy of the night is this Brandon Montour goal on Samsonov



Just a terrible goal. He was down too early. The shot wasn’t that good. It just kind of floated up into there. The guys who were cutting in front really shouldn’t have screened him to the point where that shot goes in. That’s no excuse on this ugly one.

The two goals I nailed him on were the first goal by Puljujarvi (which was the Oilers second goal of the game) and the sixth goal, which was the OT winner from Draisaitl.

And yes, you read that right. That's 4 stoppable on Fleury. Before last night only Grubauer had even hit 10, Fleury was at 9 and those 4 got him to 13. He is your league leader.

Softy of the night is this Brett Leason goal on Martin Jones



I think this is the first goal stoppable I have Jones down for this season. Shesterkin let in a pretty bad one to Gaudreau too. Either would have been better some of the softy of the night goals on some of the other nights this week.

Was that 68 non-empty net goals last night? Or 69? I’ve counted multiple times and sometimes get 68 and sometimes I get 69.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter, because my only job is to track the number of goals I count stoppable. The league and every other stat site keeps track of the actual goals scored and all of that.

I fell asleep early in the Dallas/Vancouver game and I don't even think I finished reviewing all the goals in the Anaheim game. before I went to bed.

I'm pretty sure I already saw the softy of the night though. It's probably gonna be the softy of the week and a top-3 or 4 on the season so far. I doubt the goals I haven't seen yet will be able to top that.

Softy of the night for Sunday, November 7th is this Vlad Namestnikov goal on Laurent Brossoit



just a really terrible goal. One of the worst I’ve seen this year. Didn’t even beat him at the near post. Went far side over his leg and up through his arm. Just horrific. He had a terrible game even aside from this stinker.

Scoring change on last night's review

Had to go back and edit and take out the 1 stoppable goal on Shesterkin, as it was tipped and later credited to Maxim Mamin, who deflected it in front. It was originally credited to Patric Hornqvist and looked to be one that Shesterkin should have had that beat him 5-hole from distance.

Also having trouble with a softy of the night, as this will be the weakest (weakest as in not weak enough) softy of the night of the season.

Softy of the night is this Kreider goal on Spencer Knight



This is a very cop out softy of the night. The other 3 goals I counted stoppable were all just a little more forgivable than this one. Eakin blowing one by Vanecek’s glove short side from not terribly far out, Athanasiou scoring between Campbell’s arm and body from close range and Tom Wilson slipping one 5-hole on Tokarski from close range and which Tokarski didn’t have a lot of time to react. This one looks worse because it looks Knight has it shut down and and in his pads, but he doesn’t have it secure enough.

There were a few good softy of the night candidates last night. Swayman allowed one from the boards, Skinner from Edmonton had a really hilarious giveaway behind the net, but this one was just awful.

He just fans on this one. Looked like a botch catch from one of the fielders in baseball. The “Screen” had departed right at the time that puck was shot and it came from a good distance out.

Making his very first start of the season.

I thought this goal was really hilarious and just terrible. I just couldn’t not make it softy of the night because it looks so awful and so slow going through.
