I don’t think he’s really shown any potential since the first handful of games of the 2020-2021 season.
Every goalie has really good games. Even the bad ones.
Martin Jones somehow had 3 shutouts last year.
Look at the join date of that poster. My guess is that individual just hasn’t spent enough time here to get the banter.

He was tested for sure, in some cases there wasn't any defense to help out. Good news experience for him and we won.
How about 4 PP goals? I am always bitching about Travis Green, someone said he was in charge of the PP. If so, I must give him credit. I can't remember a game when 4 PP goals were the only goals scored by one team in a regulation game. Nice coaching Travis Green. My real bitch about Travis is as a HC, he was a loser. He was not a good NHL game strategist.

Softy of the night is this Kaapo Kakko goal on Philipp Grubauer
Yeah the goal where Skinner came all the way out and missed the poke check was bad, but I try not to kill the goalie over a move like that, even though I did give him a stoppable goal.
This was an awful goal scored on an awful and decrepit, broken down goalie.
The Trouba shot is as routine as it gets. Should have been in his chest and leaked through for the easy tap in from the crease from Kakko.

Softy of the night is this Jake Walman goal on Dan Vladar
It was one timed, but from too far out and not enough of a screen. Vladar looks like he just missed it. And his body language and reaction after the goal was scored Is very telling.
They need to set off the Wolf signal after this one. At the very least they could carry three goalies if they don’t wanna lose Vladar. Flames feed kept panning to Markstrom on the bench after pretty much every goal starting with I think the second one lol. I guess they expected him to come in, but Vladar never came out.

I thought it was a little unfair to give it to Comrie for the goal from Gallagher, as it took a favorable bounce to even land on his doorstep and get poked through before he was quick enough to cover it. I didn’t wanna give him the softy of the night if I didn’t have to and if there was one worse than it.
So it goes to Jake Allen for the dead angle goal from Jeff Skinner.

Schmid has been softy of the night every game he’s played so far this year, but he’s also been negatively impacted by playing on nights where there were only 2 games in the league in each of his first two starts and now being the lone game of the night in the league tonight.
