Softy of the night is this Jake DeBrusk goal on Jonathan Quick

What a horrible goal. This might be the worst I’ve seen since Bellemare on Gillies two weeks ago. Maybe not though, there were some bad ones in that Leafs/Wings game the other night. And there goes Jonathan Quick’s predictable regression after teasing a Renaissance year in the first half.

The second DeBrusk goal looked like Marty in the MacLean year were pucks kept going in off his glove.

The Taylor Hall goal was also a bad one on Quick.

@Bleedred Koskinen shutout :amazed:
He played great in that Florida game the other day where he allowed 3 goals on like 45 shots. Smith played well the next day too.

But I’m still flabbergasted at how Koskinen can go around having a .905% and not an .890%. He’s like Jon Gillies but somehow gets hit by more pucks. And he gives up some of the softest goals I’ve seen.

This is his first shutout this season, which surprised me slightly. I would have thought he had 1 before this.

Softy of the night is this Dominik Kubalik goal on Mikks Koskinen

This looked like Smith more than Koskinen. This is something Mike Smith does fairly frequently. Varlamov also had a really bad one where he looked like he slipped on a banana peel, but this one beats that out because Varlamov allowed his really bad one right after a bad missed call and it likely made him lose his head for a second.

Softy of the night is this Dustin Brown goal on none other than the king of softies Elvis Merzlikins

I mean he really does seem to be the king of softies when Koskinen isn’t in action. He gives up some of the softest goals you’ll see to the East of Koskinen. Even his percentage this year isn’t as high as many other. This shot was going wide until he tries to glove it and goes in.

Didn't think the Kreider goal was soft on Daws?

Didn't think the Kreider goal was soft on Daws?
Hell no

I have no idea why anybody had a problem with that goal. I just don’t understand.

You’re talking about the goal that made it 3-1? Cross ice pass that’s one timed through a sliding Daws? That goal is about as bad as the Jokinen goal on Marty that tied game 7 in 09, which I’m sure a few people still blame Marty for.

Now the Chytil goal? Maybe. It just wasn’t conclusive enough for me to see where that goes. If I could see that puck leak through Daws then I’d mark it stoppable. Can’t really tell though. That was almost one timed (not technically, but the Kreider one was). If that was scored with Chytil skating down the wing while having the puck for 1-2 seconds or more, I’m counting it stoppable no matter how it beat the goalie. When it’s immediately unloaded after the shooter gets it and it’s from that distance (wasn’t that far) and I can’t see that it leaked through the goalie, I’m not marking it stoppable. If that same exact shot beats Daws (no matter where) from far out then I’m marking it stoppable. Like the one timed Mike Matheson shot (from the point) that abused Gillies glove a few weeks back.

I absolutely still don’t understand how anybody could have a problem with that Kreider goal.

Eh I don't know man, a goalie is only getting beat there if they're off their angle by a lot or the goal scorer has an amazing shot which we can agree Kreider doesn't. In fairness, he was probably playing a Zibanejad shot all the way and got caught bad. Agreed on the Chytil goal being soft but Colton White had a really bad turnover and did nothing on transition to get back on Chytil. I'm sure Daws probably would want both goals if asked. I'm not totally mad about in Daws's game yesterday since he did make some great saves like the 2 on 1 shorthanded save and it was a tough ask for him to stand toe to toe with arguably the Hart and Vezina winner of this year.

Softy of the night is this Parker Kelly goal on Scott Wedgewood. The only goal I counted stoppable on Wedgewood, but just a really terrible goal. The game went from 4-0 Coyotes to 5-4 Senators after this goal. Somehow the Coyotes came back to win 8-5 though.

That one was bad. Rough night for our old friend "Wedgwall". Can we get him back? Lol. Better than Gillies but, so are my recycling buckets!

At what point do the Oilers (and some of the non-believer fans that still aren't convinced) get tired of seeing 3 stoppable goals (on only 4 allowed) end up in the back of the net on Mike Smith? Even the one goal I didn't count stoppable you could argue was. Smith gets pulled WAYYYYYY out of position and just can't get back and it's an empty net goal.

I forgot they signed him for another year. But Ken Holland has a Stanley Cup ring, he knows what it takes to win.

I don’t get how the Oilers and Leafs sit on their hands and not get a goalie right now… wasting their cup windows
Let's see what they do at the deadline. The Leafs I'm a little split on, but the Oilers absolutely need an upgrade. They're gonna wind up missing the playoffs if this turns into a slump or prolonged losing streak.

Shit wrong thread. Please delete
I've been making this mistake A LOT when opening up other threads during a game, then posting something about the game and thinking I'm in the GDT.

I've been doing it for years, but it seems to have happened to me every game this week, other than today's so far.
