Softy of the night is this Backstrom goal on Holtby

Not really softy of the night material, but looked a little bit worse than the other 3 goals to choose from.

Softy of the night is this Cam Atkinson goal on Jonathan Quick

This was a really bad one. It was between this and a bad angle goal that went through Forsberg, but this one was almost as bad as if the initial shot from Giroux from 110 feet went in. Really shouldn’t have been a rebound on this.

Softy of the night is this K’Andre Miller goal on Grubauer

This goal looks worse every time I see it. This deserves softy of the night more than a snipe by Patrik Laine or another dead angle goal (which are a dime a dozen around the league) on Sorokin.

No reason to be screened here. He might have been paying attention to the collision way up near the top of the circle and not the shot, but no excuse to be screened here.

An 8-4 game with no stoppable goals, is that the most goals in a game this season to have that?

I didn’t watch it but both offenses must have been clicking.

I'm going to guess it's probably the most in game that I haven't counted one stoppable on this season.

There was one that was borderline on Merzlikins, but the puck was quickly released and I felt it wasn't enough time for him to get set. He was beaten really cleanly to the glove on another, but it was from like 10 feet away and also quickly released.

Needless to say, it really lowered Merzlikins percentage of goals I've counted stoppable this season by quite a bit. He's always been near the average or even worse than average on my count, but up until this season he's had a good save percentage his first two seasons. He also seems prone to some really horribly soft goals over the 3 years he's been in the league.

And yet Korpisalo constantly has a ridiculously low percentage of goals I've counted stoppable and yet his save percentage is mediocre to terrible almost every year and he's outplayed by Bobrovsky (besides all the way back in 15-16 when he was a rookie) or Merzlikins behind the same team every year.

I do not understand people arguing in favor of ''Well, the defense and system is so bad on Edmonton that no goalie would look good there''. Just look at the OT winner last night on Koskinen and tell me that wasn't a bad goal.

Softy of the night is this Pastrnak goal on Driedger

This is one of the most underrated bad goals I’ve seen in a very long time. I usually am more forgiving on one timers, but this looks like it went in on accident. Driedger just misses it and then he shakes his glove hand after it goes in, just to make sure he actually still has a left hand because he couldn’t even believe this went in. It was a real toss up between this one and Gillies giving the puck away.

Goals against review for the February 7th, 2022 games

Devils vs Senators: 4 goals against Daws, 2 stoppable. 1 goal against Murray, 0 stoppable.

Hurricanes vs Maple Leafs: 4 goals against Andersen, 0 stoppable. 3 goals against Mrazek, 1 stoppable.

So that’s 12 goals scored on goalies, 3 are stoppable. That’s 25% of the goals scored were stoppable. Combined save percentages were .900%.

The goal replays were horrible and inconclusive on a couple of those goals in the Canes/Leafs game. There looked like a questionable one on Andersen and one other on Mrazek, but lack of conclusive views gives them the benefit of the doubt.

This one beat out Gaudette on Daws because it was from even further out and went through his blocker.

Softy of the night is this Trey Fix-Wolansky goal on Pheonix Copley

First career goal. What the hell is Pheonix Copley even doing starting a game? Samsonov sucks but Copley is a career minor leaguer and Vanecek hasn’t been out long enough for them to have to ride Copley. Good good.

Mike Smith is happy cause it spared him from his his 132nd softy of the night.
