The first goal I agree with you.
The 2nd goal...there is no defending Nurse on that play. Even after the winger (I think it was Kane) loses his man Nurse can easily neutralize the play if he positions himself better.

He completely took himself out of the play...he might as well have skated to the bench and sat down.
The really annoying thing for me is that he didnt even own his mistake afterwards.

To think that there is an entire thread on here proclaiming that Nurse is a #1 dman.
It must be satire.

On the 2nd goal he absolutely owned up to his mistake. They showed him right after it was scored on the bench tapping his chest and saying it was his bad.

Don't be like Vancouver fans that blamed Luongo for losing when he only let in two goals.

The oilers couldn't even get a goal so to whine about defense or something on a game that is completed makes a person look quite silly.

They were beaten by a goalie it happens. I have enough life experience and time watching the NHL to know a hot goalie can always happen and you always have to factor in that reality.

If our team gave up as many chances as Florida did last night, Florida would of got 8 goals. Just a embarrassing defensive game by Florida.

I havent seen a team get that many high quality chances in the playoffs yet. Florida's D sucked really bad last night and still got a shut out.

Bobs the real deal

Oilers have to play perfect hockey to win, not fair

Silovs and Oettinger started their series with the Oilers as gods too.

Our team will crack Bobrovsky too. And then people will talk about him like he was never that good
I mean, Oettinger has worse regular season numbers than Skinner, and Silovs was worse than Jack Campbell in the AHL.
Bobrovsky is a Vezina candidate. It’s not really comparable.

We will crack him but it’s not comparable.

Oettinger is one of the best goalies in the league. One mid season where he was injured doesn’t change that.

He has been the worst defenceman in the playoffs so far. Definitely the worst one remaining. At what point do you healthy him? Knoblauch has to be considering it. You have a capable defenceman in Desharnais who hasn't made any of the mistakes Nurse has these playoffs sitting in the press box so we can watch this supposed 'alpha male leader' Nurse continually f*** our chances at winning hockey games.

Remove him from the lineup until he can get his head on straight. There's only a handful of games left in the season, it's time for Ekholm-Bouchard to be pushed to their limits in terms of ice time.

Postives:
- We played an amazing game and deserved two win 9/10 times. I feel better now in ways than I did before the series. We are better than them. On to the next.
- Mcdavid looked like himself again. We haven't had the real Mcdavid this playoffs and I think he's coming.
- It wasn't a perfectly officiated game, but at least they called some penalties
- Broberg was fire.

Head scratcher
- Can anyone here explain why Ceci and Nurse were put together? We split them up for this reason. We won 3 games with the old pairings and then we get this. Someone please try to explain with a paragraph.. There has to be something were missing?
- Why did we shoot low so much? Was it some reverse phycology shit
- Can we stop playing McLeod at center ice. Like Holy Fu**

Great game tho guys. I know it sucks losing game one, but let's hold our heads high. No one has really done this to the Panthers, Let's go get this split Monday night!!

He is the worst defenseman on the team at this point in time and it isn't even close yeah.

Even if Knob wanted to scratch him it just isn't happening. Unfortunately the optics of it would not be good and he's apparently a very good friend to many in the room. That call would have to go through management first and it just ain't happening.

No point in causing any rift or drama in the room at this point in time. Just reduce his minutes as much as you can.

As I've mentioned before if they want Vinny back in Broberg unfortunately pays the price despite playing outstanding. I hope this isn't true and we see one of Nurse or Ceci out next game but I just don't see it happening.

Pretty bad take. Love to see how you came to this conclusion?

I'm not even saying this as a massive Bouch supporter.

He had 3 blocks against Barkov, one of the best d players in the world, who also blocked 3 against Drai

He set up Ekholm on 3 massive grade A chances by waiting the block out. He got 4 pucks thru on what looked to be sure fire blocks, and he had decent scoring chances himself

No goals against

He did get picked on the pp a few times, so is your barometer for a good game perfection?

He was the furthest thing from "horrible"

He also had one pick late where every0ne was screaming shoot but Bob wasn't letting in long range shots and he a few of those with no traffic. Easy to see why he decided to make a pass than just letting another clear shot go
I gave my reasoning in my 2 sentence post that you quoted.
He was part of the PP that couldn't convert with him failing to keep the puck in multiple times.
By your logic everyone including Nurse and Ceci were brilliant last night since they did a lot of good.

You get noticed for brain farts and missed chances more than good plays you make. Bouchard was hair pulling noticeable at times.

We're in the Stanley Cup Finals. It shouldn't matter, and if he is the supposed leader that is claimed, he would realize he shouldn't be playing in his current headspace or level of capability.

First goal is on Hyman. Just letting Verhaeghe slip away. Same goes for the second one. That’s on Kane for letting Rodrigues go.

The game I blame on Nurse/Ceci again. How can these two still play together?
2nd goal is 100% on Nurse..

First is mostly on Hyman followed by Ceci, Nurse, Skinner and McDavid.. pretty much a team "lack of" effort.
It was just a Barkov > McDavid moment

Agreed, but hockey is a business. You don't scratch one of your leaders a game into the SCF with two of the best players in the league and very good friends coming up for contract extensions.

Not something I agree with but certainly something that is no doubt a factor. I'd almost guarantee if Knob took that scratch to upper management they'd say not a chance in hell.

We have 1 third period goal in the last 8 f***ing playoff games; and it was an EN goal. Unacceptable that this team continues to not be able to generate quality offense to close out the game.

Great effort all around, but it's the cup finals. It's time to bench the passengers like Perry who have mailed it in and are bringing absolutely nothing on the ice. Give me Gagner over him. Kane providing nothing, too.

I liked how we looked, we obviously got goalied, but I wish we had some higher end talent with more experience to play with Drai. Holloway will get there, but he's not ready for cup finals prime time 2nd line, yet. And Kane is playing hurt and providing nothing out there as well.

I've always said that this team lacks the ability to shoot and snipe. It's our biggest weakness offensively. Hopefully we watch some vid, make some adjustments, and figure it out.

We are the highest scoring team in the playoffs and regular season

Not sure how someone thinks offense is a problem.

Bob played the best game you will ever see a goalie play.

I highly doubt upper management would interfere if Knob wanted to scratch nurse.

Agree to disagree. They asked Knob in an interview, can't remember when it was, couple weeks ago I think, and he even he downplayed the coaching decisions made by himself because he mentioned they go through the entire organization before they're made final.

Just don't see them giving him the go ahead to scratch Nurse.

Why can’t Vinny go in for ceci though? Nurse is bad, ceci is right there with him. Suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked
