It pains me to
For the next game:

Ekhold-Bouchard
Kulak-Broberg
Nurse-Desharnais

Janmark-Henrique-Brown
McLeod-Carrick-Perry

I would actually scratch McLeod for Gagner. At least he gets pucks on the net and will go to the dirty areas
No Perry. He's mailed it in and is completely useless.

Nurse and Ceci love to stare at the puck. Nurse never learns from his bonehead mistakes. Points at himself at the bench, owns it, good on ya bro. Then goes out and does it again the next game. Ceci is not a good fit with him, like the Keystone Cops. And could Skinner shut the door
after the screwups? Also Hyman was meh and if Evander Kane would make a showing that would be great. Good news is they had this happen against the Cucks and to a lesser extent Dallas. Definitely can win this thing.

I have seen more good than bad...so let's see what we can do in the next game!
Maybe our goalie can stop the first pick of the night for once and the other one doesn't look like God on skates.

I've always been willing to play along with the Nurse-Ceci pairing but I think I've had it. I hope Knoblauch is using this as the last time we have to learn this

Bouchard was horrible tonight.
So many bobbles and unforced errors
Pretty bad take. Love to see how you came to this conclusion?

I'm not even saying this as a massive Bouch supporter.

He had 3 blocks against Barkov, one of the best d players in the world, who also blocked 3 against Drai

He set up Ekholm on 3 massive grade A chances by waiting the block out. He got 4 pucks thru on what looked to be sure fire blocks, and he had decent scoring chances himself

No goals against

He did get picked on the pp a few times, so is your barometer for a good game perfection?

He was the furthest thing from "horrible"

He also had one pick late where every0ne was screaming shoot but Bob wasn't letting in long range shots and he a few of those with no traffic. Easy to see why he decided to make a pass than just letting another clear shot go

Someone please show it to KK along with about 4000 other reports and analytics and video that show playing those 2 together is like juggling an open can of kerosene, raw nitroglycerin, a stick of dynamite and a Zippo lighter in full torch mode. At some point you know its gonna cost you.

Called this pre-game.WTF was the thought process there? However, first goal wasn't on them. 2nd definitely was

However, all moot as they didn't sink them. Gotta score to win

First goal was on them in a large portion. They misplayed the 3 on 2 the way novice defensemen play a 3 on 2 and both dummies went to the puck carrier. You play a 3 on 2 like a giant 2 on 1 and take away passing lanes not attacking the puck carrier, especially against their top f***ing line who can thread passes and snipe.

Nurse and Ceci are f***ing goddam toxic together. Both go utterly brain dead at the worst possible times and usually do it in tandem.

Both goalies were good, Bobo is next level. The one thing the EC really had going on in playoffs is they seem to have all the best goalies. The only premium goalie we faced till now was Ott and he's not on this level.

Agreed it’s not on the goalie but if the goalies were reversed I could see Oilers scoring a handful. Is what it is. We know we lose the goalie battle going in. At least it wasn't the biggest story of why we lost.
No question if it was anybody other than Bobrovsky in net, Edmonton scores a half-dozen at least. Completely different goalie from last year’s playoffs to this one as Bobrovsky sucked in the ‘23 finals. This year he’s been pretty lights out. Two goals against is usually enough to win or at least get it to overtime so no question Bobrovsky stole this one. He’s only given up three or more goals in a game four times this year in the playoffs so he’s not giving up much of anything. He’s pretty dialed in, they’re gonna have to get in his kitchen and give him a couple little bumps…something to break the concentration.

Speaking of which. There was shit load of missed slashes tonight. PPs were 3 to 2 in our favor. But that’s means f*** all if it actually should have been 6 to 2 based on actual infractions in the game.
Be carful as soon as you point that out you get criticized. Refs can do no wrong or you are labeled as a whiner.

He let the pass on goal #2 go right through him. He wasn’t defending anyone and just stood there doing nothing.
This is true

Meh. Disagree, and this comes from the biggest Nurse basher on this forum. And an even bigger Nurse-Ceci combo basher. Called this pre-game to boot

That goal was masterclass from Fla. Nurse pushed out to his man, lateral to another who Ceci HAD to go to covering that lane, then another lateral. They shifted properly. As i said in the GDT, you truly wish they were good enough of players to bail the team out there, but that was not on them. It was on the C for not being back, or the winger covering for the C.

That 2nd goals was pure dunce cap by both however

I just watched that second goal again. Nurse doesn’t swivel his head around ONCE to see if anyone in red is coming into the zone. Literally coasting and puck watching, not ready in any respect to knock a pass down. Zero defensive awareness. None. He occupies slots 1, 2 & 3 on my offseason Oilers trade bait board. You’re in the Cup finals dude. Start looking like it.

Skinner was pissed at him too, gave him a Mike Smith stare down after.

Skinner had every right to be pissed.
He was proabaly thinking...wtf?

I think that the reason Nurse didnt look was because he had his back to the slot. He didnt even position himself to monitor the slot.
He also didnt have his stick on the ice.
So he is standing in no mans land...stick in the air...not a concern in the world about the high danger area behind him....watching the puck.

He couldnt have f**ked up that play more if he tried.
How is it that a $9.25M player can be so mindless? So incoherant?
I just dont get it.

Totally. Nurse being Nurse, yet this game still not on them unfortunately. Shocking but the Oil still had enough push back despite that goal.

No need to plaster him more on this one

First goal is on Hyman. Just letting Verhaeghe slip away. Same goes for the second one. That’s on Kane for letting Rodrigues go.

The game I blame on Nurse/Ceci again. How can these two still play together?

No question the forwards were caught behind the puck on the Florida breakout and that began the 3 on 2 sequence, but defending a 3 on 2 is not rocket science. Take the lanes dont take the puck carrier. As soon as you do that you're creating a 2 on 1 which is exactly what happened.

Nurse should NOT have pushed out to his man, that is exactly what you do not do. Ceci was already in his correct lane but as soon as Nurse got beat on the pass (which he was supposed to prevent) Ceci pushed to his man, who threaded it to Verhaege and bang - in the net.

A 3 on 2 is just waiting for a dunce cap pair like Nurse and Ceci to take the player bait and take the bait they did. Most 3 on 2's do not wind up in Grade A scoring chances if played correctly. They played it completely wrong.
