Nurse and Ceci can do a lot of good things but paired together they too often slip into poor decisions that crush this team. They both have aggressive tendencies which involved chasing opposition into low danger ice which gets exploited as the other guy thens wobbles out of his team's defending structure. Need to go back to Nurse and Kulak.

But this game was lost with a team shooting donuts on a mediocre PP and Stack Line deployment that spent most of its time defending its own goal 200 feet from the glory hole.

Overall a real solid road game. Couple mistakes. Locked in goaltending at the other end. And the top elite forwards and top d pairing weren't good enough.

I dont think it will happen either.

Drai wasnt sharp in this game. He wasnt alone though.
Lots of players not at their best tonight and yet they still outplayed Florida for the most part.

Drai and Bouch especially were taking way too long to do something with it when they had it high in the o zone. Sitting on the puck hoping a lane is just going to magically open up will not work here.

Theres a lot of blame Foegele, blame McLeod, blame Kane going on. Its not why we lost. None of McD, Drai, Hyman, Nuge had any finish whatsover around net tonight. Lots of stuffing pucks at net and then the Nuge embarassing open net miss. These are the guys that have to be the difference.

For Florida Bennett, Verhaege, Barkov did get their jobs done and did produce. That the Oilers superstars didn't get a point or a goal is why we lost.

I didn’t think he was that bad, but he definitely bobbled the puck a bit more than normal. I feel like he’s fought the puck a bit in game 1 of every series so far. He’s still young, probably just a bit of nerves
I think that hit by Robertson in the last minute of game 5 shook him up.

I wonder if Pucks at net won’t be good enough if Bob is dialed in, we may need to play a style that generates more cross crease and generates more looks with time so we can aim upstairs. Or maybe I’m overthinking it cause pucks at net can still generate bounces that can beat Bob.

Bobbery.

Says it all.

Barkov, Bennett, Bobo. For the Panthers thats all it was.

Oilers better team but lost and our top guys didn't finish.

Panthers had the benefit of being here before and Oilers looked nervous finishing.

That said we've had trouble scoring EV for a longwhile. Lots of PP goals against Dallas disguised that.
We didn’t even score on the pp till game 5 vs Dallas though. I don’t really agree with that sentiment.

I get that but those were both grade A's because of a complete bed shitting defensively. Stu wasn't as good as Bob, but he wasn't the reason that we lost this game.

If you consider the advanced stats they were both more in the C+ to B- category rather than grade As.

The dark yellow are their goals.

I'd call the big orange chances grade A's.

Had to listen on the radio while driving but it sounded like the Oilers took it to them but had no puck luck.
That will change in game 2 & we'll get the split.

Yeh that’s his passing lane. He’s in the right spot though, he’s supposed to be there when the puck is down low, but didn’t put his stick down to cover that lane. That’s an error for sure. Don’t know why he’s just standing there puck watching and not doing standard defence stuff like having your stick in the lane.
I hear you.
He cant have his back to the slot. He needs to have his head on a swivel with his stick down and not stand on the goal line.
He has to keep his stick on the ice (to potentialy block a pass if Ceci loses the battle) and be available to cover the slot area if need be. He cant do that if his back is to the prime scoring area.
His stick being in the air just proves that he was doing a Walter Mitty interpretation IMO.
He was totally zoned out.

Bobo is so good he makes cross crease plays look like easy square ups. On the Drai to McD pass it hits Bobo right in logo. Thats a one timer pass across. Bobo makes a routine stop on it. the Panel mentioned the same thing. Bobo is dialed up. Florida lose going away without him.

One of Perry/Kane should likely sit next game... could happen. I'd put in Gagner or Carrick.

One of Nurse/Ceci should sit next game... likely will not happen... but Desharnais or even Gleason would likely be better options just to see a fresh dman body in there.

Not worried about them either..
We had 0 luck around the net.. either one of the top Oilers you mentioned could've had a hattrick if things were going their way.
No way FLA keeps this up all series...

This was good game by Oilers outside of a couple brain farts

We need him against Florida's 3rd line imo.

He might be losing faceoffs but he's doing everything else.
We need more depth.

Not playing the LTIR card with Kane may prove costly.

We could have picked up a really good winger to play with Henrique and on top of that Kane could have gotten surgery and have been ready for game one against LA.

WE closed dallas scoring 4 PP goals in last 2 games to take the series. It was almost all the goals we got.

in both games 5, 6 our first two goals were both PP's. These were immense goals and we needed every one. Only Broberg scored EV goal in that last 2 games.
