No, his gig is as a Fan590 sports radio host in Toronto. He was on all Sunday morning talking about the Leafs (same way a 1200 host would in Ottawa) and what do to post elimination...and his main point was change the coach.

It's more what he does as a Sens employee that baffles me. This dude is a radio host in Toronto.
So multi levels of stupidity. He should relieved of this position. That's insane. Funny to think the leafs problem is coaching as well. Frankly and slightly off topic I think the leafs played very well. Lost to the best team in the league and pushed them harder then any team has yet. They just need to come back with some minor tweaks next year. But as a sens fan I do hope they go nuts and make a boat load of changes.

We’ve been in this a long time I can believe any stupid thing.
True the media in Toronto is acting a whole Lotta crazy right now. Its beyond embarrassing. Some of the leading questions they had after those playoff games. Simmons asking why Keith 'started his worst defenseman' they're their own worst enemy. They wanna have their home town team turn on one another.

Sorry, but I am not following the Roger Lajoie storyline. Would someone mind explaining why Lalime’s Martian is going off? Unless k missed something?

The tweet LM responded to originally read something to the effect of, "The Leafs should hire Barry Trotz, he's easily the best coach available." with one of those obnoxious Leafs-branded hashtags afterward. #LeafNation or something. Just a bad look for a team official to be so openly cheering on any other team, let alone a rival.

Maybe, despite the title, it's just a small side gig and he's not very involved with the Senators. Still a bad look, but him being a radio host in Toronto tells me this Senators job wasn't his primary employment.

After the Chief Marketing Officer left Melnyk hired his buddy for the FAN590 to be director of marketing. I am really quite surprised that Bob McCown wasn't hired as POH.

Yeah, he also had #goleafs.

I don't know that he was so much cheering on the leafs so much just commenting on what they should do after another 1st round exit, but there's a serious optics issue tweeting a goleafs hashtag from your Twitter account where your profile lists your role as marketing director with a rival team. He's allowed to have another job where he discusses other teams, and he's allowed to be a fan of other teams, just don't connect all those dots in one place a tweet GoLeafs while representing yourself as part of the sens with the same account

Do I need to go another rant about how horrible the Sens Marketing has been under Melnyk. What a fool.

Other teams trash talk each other on twitter for fun. We just cheer them on.

Is there a chance that it was trolling?... Implying to fire the current coach to rock the boat? I have a hard time believing anyone could be so stupid otherwise.
That's what I thought actually.... I'm not a Twitter guy but teams are definitely now trolling other teams on Twitter

I actually don't understand why he is allowed to be a radio talking head covering hockey while working as the team's marketing director. Does any other marketing director in NA pro sports treat the job as a side gig?

That's another guy who seems like a Melnyk hire on the payroll like P. McGuire that maybe they don't need & should get rid of. Try hiring someone local who knows the city & is a fan of the team & can market this team a little better.

There's a joke to be made about Melnyk withholding pay/compensation from employees here...

If you look at that guy's LinkedIn profile, seems like he's got 4 or 5 things going on, any one of which could read like a full time job

I am pretty sure that being marketing director for the Sens involved being able to travel to the media company offices in Toronto once a month to check in…then report on not too much.
