The best thing the Senators could advertise or market now is that they have a new, different and improved organization that has new blood (& no E. Melnyk). Too bad the ownership situation is dragging out. They could be capitalizing on this asap and lose out on this as time passes by.

Edited to better reflect the concept.

After watching the Canucks flip a top-10 pick* and cap dumps for OEL and Garland I am terrified of what Pierre and his pro scouting department are targeting with 7th overall

*Yotes drafted Dylan Guenther at 9 with the pick, he is one of the best wing prospects in hockey after his d+1 season

So multi levels of stupidity. He should relieved of this position. That's insane. Funny to think the leafs problem is coaching as well. Frankly and slightly off topic I think the leafs played very well. Lost to the best team in the league and pushed them harder then any team has yet. They just need to come back with some minor tweaks next year. But as a sens fan I do hope they go nuts and make a boat load of changes.

Why hasn't this dude been fired yet? This should have occurred nanosecords after he made his tweet! Can you imagine the uproar in Calgary if their head of marketing was a full-time DJ in Edmonton, and sent a similar tweet regarding the Oilers? He'd have been gone immediately - of course the Flames would never have put themselves in this situation because, well, they run a professional ship but that's another story - and the fact Lajoie is still employed is concerning to me. It tells me it's "same-old-same-old" in Sens world. The Sens are on the precipice of either having an elite team or having their rebuild go up in smoke, Shit like this has to stop, and fast. Is there another sports' organization out there that continually shoots themselves in the face as much as the Sens? If there is one, odds are they're bottom dwellers.

This is a really bad take.

Not exactly. "New Beginnings" is a narrative that resonates across business and sports and everything in between. It's the reason for the dead cat bounce when a new coach is installed.

People love the idea of starting anew. The Sens should absolutely lean into it. Coincides perfectly with the rebuild too.

The entire concept of a "new year's resolution" supports this.

Fresh start. Things are different. Things will be better. The world is your oyster. People love it and buy it up.

For sure. Defragmenting is yeilding unsatisfactory results so its time to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install of the OS.

The new beginnings theme is fine. You provide hope. But trying to sell tickets based on a death is not appropriate.

They’re not going to advertise that Melynk is gone … they will advertise new ownership, new beginners, new era or whatever.

Anybody who thinks they weren’t spending $25.50 because of Melynk has some wires crossed. There are a few other issues they have to get worked through before they become decent customers.
Unless you’ve personally been impacted by him , you don’t rationally hold back $25.50 from a billionaire, especially when $25.25 of it goes to pay for the players you watch.

Your arguments live in a tiny corridor and we would say look at the bigger picture. Even if you disagree, you are basically arguing completely different things than those debating it with you.

Longer than it should have. How come 'Fired' wasn't used like it was for Mcguire? This guy actually did something wrong.
Doesn't sit right that he was allowed to leave on his own terms. But at the same time, good friggin' riddance. Even outside the context of that god-awful tweet, Sens marketing has been atrocious in recent years. Lack of funding is probably a part of it, but I mean... even some charities had better marketing.

Why? He's know EM for 20 years. He probably knows the daughters which probably influenced the way he was asked to leave. He's gone without a public lynching. In Senators land that is good.
