I think it's pretty clear.

Pierre (the goalie coach) went and saw him, and then Pierre (the GM) went and saw him.

It's probably some kind of inside joke between him and Groulx, or in terms of naming a specific scout by name.
Perfect explanation... love the probably.

This probably happened .. not sure. but I am going to shit on the guy who guessed it didn't

Does Groulx even work for the Sens this season? He's been listed every year as a goalie coach, then a scout, but this year listed nowhere. Maybe that is part of the flak he was talking about, I have no clue

Dorion definitely not speaking in 3rd person there though IMO

I'm sorry, where did he say he was guessing?

I just remember him shitting on Dorion.

"Just noticed that Dorion talked in the third person when discussing his confidence in Korpisalo and travelling to watch him in the postseason. He caught himself doing it and acknowledged he'll take heat for it."

Funny that I'm getting grilled for guessing but our mutual friend isn't.

Discovering that Dorion made the trade for ADB without having a single conversation with him is grounds for firing.

Especially after not having learned lesson with Stone or Duchene.

I was always wondering why ADB sounded so shocked at being traded from Chicago. Surely, I naively thought, there's no way this was not brought up to him prior from our side, with 1 year left on his contract.

Well, he had 2 years left on his contract.

Chicago isn't under any obligation to tell him he's on the block.

If you can't trade him, but you already told him that you're trying, it might not be the best move for the dressing room.

Had 1 year left on his contract, had 2 years left of RFA, or 1 year signed and then a 1 year QO of 9 million to UFA.

He had 1 year left. We had every right to want to discuss with him possibility of extension before it happened. Especially with 9 mil QO.

Sorry, I was thinking 2 years of control.

I thought Dorion asked permission to talk to ADB prior to the trade and was turned down by Nicholson?

People are surprised by this? It was obvious at the time.

We paid a rental price for a 2 year rental. There was 0 focus on an extension when the trade was made lol.

Believe this is correct. Davidson said no you can't talk to him and Dorion made the trade regardless.

Because it was a win now move.

Dorion may have punted the question but everyone knows his job depends on making the post-season this year.

He may even be fired if the owner wants to get a head start.

The controversy about his answer to that question is a whole lot of nothing.

that was last year.

You're correct, we had every right to want to discuss

Chicago had every right to not grant that discussion and DeBrincat actually had no rights. No right to refuse a trade, no right to be informed of a trade.

Looks like GN isn’t the only one doubling down… Or maybe he’s just doubling down twice in two different locations…. ;)

He made a dumbass comment trying too hard to be clever. Should have just laughed it off, gave himself a tap with his usually shit stick and moved on.

Instead…

I don’t think he punted the question so much as he was alluding to making some big(ger) moves to come and wanted to make his “bold predictions” after the roster was set. He obviously said as much, but I think he’s playing around with the timing.

He dropped Tanks name a few times, including an unforced mention of Sanderson having the same agent now as Tank, and that they would begin to talk contracts once Pat had sorted out some of his more immediate issues.

Sounds to me like PD wants to make a few more moves and then announce playoffs as the goal amid the excitement.

Stayed tuned obviously as we all know what happens to best carefully laid plans…. Lol

Yeah, I agree that this is where he's coming from.

There's basically two things going on here:

1. His job depends on the team making the playoffs (if he's still here), so why not swing for the fences and just say it? The team has been rebuilding enough.

vs.

2. What does the team actually look like going into the season and what is your actual prediction?

He's been crucified for his boldness in the past and I think he's learned a bit of a harsh lesson.

Personally I find off season boring and I’m hoping we make a few bold adds instead of bold words.

There are a few guys to be had for free, and perhaps a trade for a bottom six guy with some term who fits.

Cautiously optimistic. The fact that PD is talking with Andlauer several times a week should give some a sense of relief in terms of PD simply making rogue moves to save his job.

Also, moving on from Trent may be a move to clear a spot for some Andlauer guys asap.
