Everyone should get fired but it won’t fix anything because Dubas and his genius signings have set the team back 3-5 years anyways. We will be Detroit and Chicago level very soon if these contracts become untradable.

This isn't something Dubas could control but it's clear that

Lou >> Dubas at building a cup contending team

Palmieri + Zajac have been incredible for them and he got them for a 1st plus change.

His moves since coming have been for the most part great and he has built a well oiled team with a system that is easy to adopt and leads to direct results.

The islanders could be playing in the Conference final this year having beaten Pens and Bruins two strong ( both would clap the leafs in 7)

Series with Bruins is 1-1 but the isles are simply a much better contender than the leafs.

The isles are the Raptors of the NBA pre Kawhi while we are the Clippers from the lob city Era except our limit is the 1st round

If the isles can get 1 star in addition to Barzal they're winning a cup. The leafs I wouldn't be comfortable in a 7 game set vs the Sabres/Wings

I'd bet my life savings we'd lose in 7 to the Sens. Seriously we would 100% lose to the sens in a 7 game series

So this little number right here you posted minutes ago:

Doesn't imply that Dubas listen to the media and make moves based on that?

Because that's kind of exactly what you just said...

Yes I think when everyone in the media is whining about being soft for years it's hard not to be influenced. And he's an idiot for not sticking to his original philosophy and instead chasing a bunch of plugs. I don't know what you're going on about tbh, you seem to think me calling Dubas an idiot is defending him.

That’s good to hear. The Leafs didn’t need a guy like Taylor Hall, but they did need a guy like Nick Foligno.

It's the fans' fault though.

This is what this guy actually thinks.

We make the calls, not Dubas lol

We here on HFboards decided that Dubas made the trade for Foligno and not Taylor Hall :laugh::laugh:

Thornton on the PP was completely useless... Nylander should be in that spot.
Brodie should be on PP over Sandin. Brodie was our best dman.
Simmonds, Mikheyev did nothing. Thornton was a liability all series.
Start of 3rd period, with fresh legs, our top PP unit should be on for the full 2 minute powerplay. the PP2 unit complete sucks.

i said this to my buddy. Everyone crying now wanted simmonds/thorton/plug types and he gets them and then they cry about it.
Wanting more grit and balance.......vs having to get it by rooting through other teams' garbage bins because you crippled your cap with dumb signings...are 2 very different things.

It’s gonna be messy. I doubt we even make the playoffs next season when we are back in the Atlantic. If there’s a time to retool this sure is it. Problems arise with cap issues and contracts like Mathews. Will he even wanna stay? Is this team fixable to even make playoffs? I dunno.
